Broadway and Sons trousers and casual wear

I've seen these trousers on broadway and sons and I kinda like them. My issue is that they are quiet formal as far as I can tell and I mostly lean casual/my environment is casual as well. Currently the style I'm most drawn to is a rugged kinda ivy. These would be too formal for that right?

The model in the pic is literally super casual, with canvas sneakers and a short sleeve camp collar shirt with double breast pockets. You could (and should) definitely wear these casually.
What feels too formal about what the model is wearing?
imo pretty much any pleated trouser is really easy to dress down
