ominous black spots that spread (1.18.2)

this is also on the gitlab (sorry) but i really want to go back to playing minecraft. these black spots appear in the distance and grow if you try to get rid of one like a hydra. i already tried everything in the FAQ including the overdraw, nothing. reloading the game doesnt work. im really considering trying a nightly build and hoping that fixes it. i dont have any lighting mods but i do have rubidium (if asked i can send my mod list)

this didnt happen immediately either, probably after 1-2 hours of playtime another thing id like to add is that i reach 100% memory within about a minute and get freezes with these black dots no matter how much memory i add even at 8 gbs it reaches 100% just as fast so maybe its related to a memory leak?? i have no idea what a memory leak is to be honest this is just a guess

i double checked if rubidium was causing it by disabling it and they still appear

This is generally caused by a lighting engine issue. If you have any lighting engine mods that is probably the cause. Otherwise you could try the nightly build the lighting should be better there (although you will have to regenerate your LODs).

i dont have any lighting mods, i checked a while ago, and i tried the nightly build which crashed my game upon trying to change the LOD distance (that and the nightly build seemed to generate much slower for the bit i did let it generate until realizing it wasnt at 520 which is my usual preference) the only mod that tampers with lighting that i have is rubidium and the error still happens even without it i never actually confirmed if the nightly build fixed the black spots though... maybe i can change the distance through the config instead so it doesnt crash when i open settings

I released a fix for that earlier today. Try the latest build in #links.

oh my god sweet this might actually fix the issue thank you so much even if it doesnt fix the issue i really appreciate the response this mod seriously probably fixes the only problem i ever have with minecraft and its kind of hard to play without it now, i know not everyone will agree with this but your mod seriously turns minecraft in to probably the best game i have ever played it doesnt crash anymore when i change the settings! ill report back after an hour or two (typically how long it takes to take effect) if anything happens i dont believe the bug is there but sadly the nightly build has a lot of issues that make it hard to play, so for now i think this issue is as solved as it can be ill keep an eye on new nightly builds until one works well enough :) thank you for your help OH MY GOD I THINK ITS A MOD COMPATIBILITY ISSUE I REMOVED HALF OF MY MODS FOR FUN AND THE BUG IS GONE it is 100% a mod compatibility issue the mod works absolutely perfect when certain groups of mods are removed im pretty sure its VS eureka yep, its VS eureka ill add an issue to their github
