plugin doesnt provide antiddos
and there isnt anything better than tcpshield for free
Neoprotect as example
I know
But Yk what I mean
neoprotect isnt better
Why not
Well I heard some saying it’s better than tcpshield currently
literally no real big/known server uses neoprotect
That still prevents from being not better than tcpshield?
:considering if neoprotect was better bigger servers would use neoprotect:
tcpshield is known as one of the best ones
and it has a free tier
But what makes it not better than tcpshield?
Because of difference trafic or what
worse protection
+ less latency
(even less if ur using a paid plan)
depending on where u are
Ye aight
heh this makes no sense
some of their IPs are OVH based too
u should see infinity filter iirc its all ovh
What’s this
that's on their billing docs
Neoprotect?
Or tcpshield
neoprotect
Can you explain what that is
basically they're a cloud provider with a questional ddos protection mechanism
and it would appear theyare just resellers
if you are using too much trafic for the tcpshield free plan you should probably be looking at paid options
if you're not using too much traffic for tcpshield free plan, tcpshield works fine
or just use a host with decent antiddos'
:-:
not everyone hosts using a minecraft-spesific host (my servers have always been hosted on a VPS or dedicated server)
why should i pay extra for minecraft server hosting provider prices when i can install a panel myself
also
pufferfish, berrybyte, bloom all provide high performance vps' at a affordable price with great antiddos
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
+ more
Pufferfish and berrybyte on cosmicguard and bloom on in-house
Im new to that stuff could you explain me what you mean by that?
what host do u use?
Small new hosting
It’s enough
well not really if u need to look at external antiddos
tbf
these services act as an antibot too which is quite important not only for cracked servers, but also because incredibly large bot attacks (comprised of traffic which is legitimate to anti ddos services) can be bigger than 1gbps and can overload the network port of the server
i asked a papyrus owner about why external antibots are needed and he showed an example of an 8gbps bot attack to a papyrus protected server
papyrus :kekw:
i havnt had a single issue with it and have recieved amazing support from their owners
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
literally a papyrus ceo admitting having a friend attempting to ddos pufferfish*
....that isnt him tho
last time i mentioned papyrus you accused a papyrus owner of ddosing a server host
if i remember right
his friend doing something is completly different to if he had done it
no
it was kevin
oh i did
nvm
pretty sure he was just straight capping about the friend tbf
So is papyrus anti ddos?
we have no way of proving it was him
so im not gonna accuse him of it
being friends with active ddosers (ddosing ur competitors) just aint a good look
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
pufferfish isnt a competitor to papyrus though, one is a server host and one is a antiddos + antibot protection service
upioti wouldnt gain from ddosing them
so i dont really see the evidence for it being him
sometimes people do things for no reason
maybe just ddos for fun
or just cause
"great antiddos" its hard to know whether a server host has good antiddos
i remember talking to staff of a server host (it might have been bloom i dont really remember) who was talking about how they had switched from using clouflare protection to their own inhouse protection and how they were saying that it was an improvement
but its hard to prove that the inhouse ddos protectionon a smaller brand is good as it often isnt
Probably they changed because their cloudflare bill was getting expensive
like to me switching away from cloudflare to an inhouse solution is a detterent for using their service as i know cloudflare is good but there is no stats or proof that someones in house solution is good
its obvious that they move away because of the high costs of cloudflare
but they try to show it as an incentive and that their solutions are better when their is no data or past mitigation statistics to back it up
O wait, they were using Magic Transit.. interesting
what is the difference between cloudflare's magic transit service and spectrum service i have no clue
their antiddos is a big part of what they do
they do provide external antiddos services
nope
they still have it as a backup

It would be really interesting to see how much Magic Transit costs, it appears to be only available to companies.
@Enon are u able to share any info?
well why are they pushing their customers away from cloudflare then
even if, u still selected one out of the 3 options /shrug/
i find it hard to believe that MOST OF THEIR CUSTOMERS thought "alr ima switch from the well known cloudflare ddos protection to this brand new bloom inhouse protection" surely bloom must have added their own incentives to switch away
wdym
berrybyte and pufferfish both use cosmicguard
which is a good antiddos
ive never used cosmicguard but it seems to be pretty good for newer version servers (most people)
and a horrible idea for anyone who runs 1.8-1.12 servers still
since they do playercount-based prices instead of bandwidth-based prices and older versions use way less bandwidth
I guess it makes sense to have Cloudflare as a backup and use another service for normal day use. You don't need to use the heavy weaponry on every battle.
Specially if Cloudflare bills per outbound traffic, they probably do.
depends tbf if ur using a host it doesnt matter (for the end-uesr), and if ur not u can pay for bandwidth
(if using older versions)
+ if u need cheaper u can find someone who already has cosmicguard deals and get it for cheaper from them
Aight
We are paying around 4.5K/mo for it rn.
damn thats a really high amount
