what color socks to wear with a navy suit and brown shoes? pattern or solid?

classically, navy, solid.
Colors look weird here, the suit is actually Navy and not blue
So try to match the suit color, or darker?
Traditionally speaking your socks should be the same/similar color as your pants. That being said any dark color like black or dark gray is fine as well. You can also totally do patterned socks but without knowing the occasion i would stick to classic sock patterns in a dark/neutral color so like a navy stripe or widow pane
try to match if you can, but darker is probably fine.
