always seemed like jcrew but more expensive. always on sale also like jcrew
Honestly nice stuff but I basically always have sticker shock for what they offer
Can be really good on sale
Their collabs are often great
I have a lot of their stuff. As others have said, feels overpriced at retail but I don't mind paying sale prices. Not a big market for their second hand stuff so you can get good deals that way as well.
They make a lot of basics that you can find cheaper elsewhere but every season they also put out a few pieces that are on-trend, so if you've moved past the basics they still have something to offer. This summer they had a lot of ALD, Bode adjacent looks for instance (open knit tops, wide/pleated shorts, etc).
For whatever reason I clock TS in the same bracket as J Crew or similar. They can definitely be better and higher quality and the increased price is deserved, but I'm always expecting retail to be like 40% of what it actuall is so even the steep EOS sales I get sticker shock
I like their outerwear, like others have said a bit expensive and also last time I checked they were behind on their cuts (slim fit)
out of curiosity, what do people consider a good sale price? every now and then I'll get a sale email from them but the prices often still seem kind of high even then - not sure if I need to adjust my expectations or if I'm looking at the wrong times
the champion sweatshirt collab is so nice man. Most of the other TS stuff is good but insanely overpriced. Even on sale, I think it's rarely worth it
For TS? like 40-60% off.
This has become one of my favorite brands. Everything's done so well. Outside of a couple of tshirts, I've never been disappointed. However, it is really pricey. They do sales a lot, so grab that. The other thing is to look at care instructions. I grabbed a few things that are dry clean only, and while it's not frequent, it's a burden
Also: Todd Snyder collabs are some of the best IMO
that reminds me: has there been any talk about them doing an LL Bean collab again? guessing they're not or it would have been out by now but I meant to ask in here
Haven't seen a mention, hope they do. Just picked up the sailcloth shirt jacket that was part of it. Simple, but has character
yeah I have a couple of the chamois shirts from last year, I really wanted one of the hats but those seemed to disappear pretty quick
i have a todd snyder x bodega knit that i love
todd snyder makes some very nice stuff like their overcoats/balmacaans but they're too expensive for me
there is a non collab todd snyder chamois shirt on sale for $50 rn
sometimes they do sale on sale btw (i think an extra 25-30% off)
Keep an eye on secondhand sites. Todd Snyder can get pretty cheap
Here's a nice one on TRR for example: https://www.therealreal.com/products/men/clothing/outerwear/todd-snyder-plaid-print-overcoat-insp5
ooh, thank you!
i'll keep an eye out
I only own one thing from TS and its a basic grey sweatshirt that I've owned since like 2012
Curious to see what the Private White VC collab looks like
Collab with The Met dropping at the end of the month
Mostly not feeling these but I do like those shoes in the last image
I like the idea of these more than I like the actual pieces?
That's my reaction to most of their collabs
I hear you, I had the same reaction to the Private White VC, but my hopes were high. I think each one has alternative pieces they do better though.
but Champion, LL Bean, some other past ones (Converse), even some in the Timex collab are pretty great. I think TS collabs work out better than most
I love my Fair Isle from the bodega collab
Van Gogh sweater is
i feel like if youre gonna do an all over print of a painting you gotta go out there, this feels like theyre tryna be cool but not committing
which is 90% of todd snyders target audience so i guess that works
i agree with beans tho the van gogh is so so sick
Wish they would have done a Bosch piece but that might be too out there to style well
bosch is exactly the kinda painting this style needs
i feel like nonironic clothing with famous art on it doesn't make sense unless ur doing something new with the art
a bosch painting hoodie but all the characters are clothed
no underwear tho
Yah that's my feeling with a lot of their mainline pieces but then there's some that hit perfectly
Like classic menswear type stuff that isn't made by almost any big brands anymore
Their collabs can be very cool and thoughtful
fuck that give me a full gold Klimt puffer
That would go hard as a silk shirt
What is a good price for the Dylan suede jacket? Is it easy to find them used?
This is going on right now: https://260samplesale.com/pages/todd-snyder-flagship-ny
The line looked pretty long on social. Unfortunately I couldn't make it today (and probably not tomorrow). Hoping there are some decent things left in a few days. These things can get sparse in regular sizes quickly
The jackets and Dylan's usually go fast 😦
I went to the last one on the second day and they only had XS and 2XL Dylan left... I think they were $350
FW24 runway was this morning
I watched the livestream and there were some good knits and outerwear from an upcoming Woolrich collaboration
Midway through there was some nice looking slouchy suiting
I only own one TS thing but I love it
Olive travel suit, got married wearing it
I have a linen suit from TS that I love
I've gathered more than I thought I would
Sometimes these go lower later in the week
If anyone goes today/tomorrow, please ping me 😄
I went earlier today. It's much worse than the previous sample sale. No Dylan jackets but a few leather varsity jackets from a Golden Bear collab. Didn't see much collab stuff in general except for a lot of NBA stuff.
Was it FW stuff at least? Or just leftovers from SS?
What would you say there was? Videos made it look like a decent amount. Overcoats? Shirts? Other jackets? Pants? Saw the NB collab, but feel like everyone has one with them
Any rototo stuff? Lol I hope they don't have beanies because I just bought one full price
they must have some nice socks if any left as they don't make their own socks. i'll try to stop by before it ends
the footwear category sounds v interesting too if it includes some of the brands they retail
Tons of shirts. A good number of light jackets but not a huge variety — lots of denim jackets and Barbour-style stuff. A lot of boring blazers. Some cords. All at too-high prices for a sample sale but might be worthwhile later.
There were like 2 pairs of rototo socks left when I was there, both in ugly colors.
Sometimes stuff gets knocked down over the weekend, but I assume it'll be bare by then
Yeah 260 always has prices too high the first few days and then drops prices Friday or Saturday
Thank you! Sounds like a skip to me unless I'm already in the area
Maybe the selection was better the first day on Monday
There's good pics and videos in the 260 Sample Sale Instagram story today if you want to have a good sense of what's left
Has anybody else had an issue with TS generally having longer sleeves? Just bought a couple of sweaters and overshirts at my normal size and they fit great everywhere - except the sleeves are a good inch and a half longer than any of my other stuff. Maybe just a stylistic choice on their end?
I mean my sweater from them is long in the sleeves but I just roll the sleeves back
Not sure if saying "nope" is helpful, but any shirt / jacket I have seems normal in sleeve length. Not sure I have any sweaters from TS though (although I did just leave one in my cart too long and missed out)
My jacket came with pretty long sleeves, had to get it tailored
Just a note for posterity: Their shirt sizing seems to run very small. I wear a 16x33 in PRL dress shirts, 15.5x33 in BB and Gitman. A 16x33 shirt from Todd Snyder was way too tight in the collar. I probably need a 16.5x33
for non-dress shirts I feel it runs a little large; unless I buy it on eBay and the person ran it through the dryer 100x
their fit type matters a lot too
these prices are wild even for todd snyder https://www.toddsnyder.com/collections/todd-snyder-woolrich?hpid=mdl
Todd Snyder
Todd Snyder + Woolrich
I do like the look of their new wythe suiting, just no way I'd pay retail for it
I remember really liking what I saw of this collection on the runway last year
Too bad the prices are so high
Mohair sweaters are the highlight for me
It's a travesty what's happened to woolrich
Vintage Woolrich my beloved
