Standard Contractual Clauses
Does railway have this? I am about to deploy our backend but our lawyers required we sign SCC with our backend/db providers to be GDPR compliant.
AWS includes something in the registration ToS but I couldn't find anything similar for railway

If you are using Railway as a company, join the Pro plan. The dev team will be able to help you from there

well I'd like to make sure of this before I enroll into the Pro plan and start paying though, it's fairly important to be GDPR compliant
doesn't that require the host to be in the EU?
or am I thinking of something else
it would be something like this
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/compliance/regulatory/offering-eu-model-clauses
or this

Basically it is illegal to export data of european citizens outside of european countries without a contractual clause with the service provider.
Given that you are using GCP I assume you must have them as well but I don't think they transfer automatically
?
no, it requires the server to be outside the EU and at least 1 user to be in the EU
(1 user for which you process information)
so a server located in America can still be gdpr compliant
if SCC are signed between us (my company) and you (railway) yes
This is the message from our lawyers
okay, I will flag the team Monday for you so they can give you a quick answer, but you'd likely have to upgrade to the pro plan before any paperwork gets done
yeah for sure
I believe I’ve seen the team mention that their databases are compliant
but better to hear that from the team than me
Flagging this thread. A team member will be with you shortly.
