Server lag when players using Elytra

I recently started hosting a Vault Hunters 3 server. We've noticed some lag when one of us uses an Elytra and starts loading in a bunch of chunks quickly. I don't really know how chunk generation works. I also don't know if one of those pre-generation mods will work well with modpacks and if there are any "gotchas" that I should be aware of. Does anyone happen to know what the best way to solve this might be? For context, I'm running on: 2x Gold 6148 2.4GHz -> 40 Cores 512gb RAM. (Xmx16G -Xms16G) 1 TB FS on SSD (but I have much more available)

Is generation usually single threaded?

On forge yes iirc Disable sync-chunk-writes in server.properties if it isn't already Also getting a better nvme might improve load and gen speed

Thanks! I might just migrate to something with faster single core performance + nvme then

You sure you mean half a terabyte of ram? That's gonna cause problems Anything over 16gb starts to cause issues

Yeah I meant half a tb. I only gave the server 16 though. Xmx16G -Xms16G

Use chunky and pre generate your chunks. Use a cpu with better single core performance. Make sure you're using directly attached SSDs, not anything that goes over a network
