Risks of running public server on home network

Hey all, I already posted this question yesterday in general and got some really helpful answers but I wanted to get some other perspectives on the issue before I make any decisions. For context, my network is fast enough, and so it the computer running the server. I am running it on the same network that basically all of my personal devices are connected to, forwarding only port 25565. I’m wondering how risky it would be to have this port open to the internet, and how I could potentially protect myself, since i don’t want to play with my own personal security here.

Well if u don't want to play with your security Use a host But ddos is the main risk Issue is free tier doesn't work with bedrock and has limited bandwidrh (if he decides to have bedrock support) U need to pay 100 usd a month for a bedrock supported plan Bedrock supported plan cost 100 usd a month Discord mobile On slow internet is a mess

I would reccomend PebbleHost. Extremely cheap and I have had excellent performance with a VPS before. Then you don't have anything to worry about and they offer ddos protection

oh my server isn’t making any income so i can’t really justify paying out of pocket for that much aren’t there vps services that can just forward connections? like amazon, azure, google, etc

those are gonna be alot more expensive tcpshield free tier works but doesnt work with bedrock and doesnt work for more than like 20 players average oracle cloud could work

i have a subscription for that already so what’s my best bet? in terms of securing myself as much as possible while still having all the compute power coming from my own pc

It's not really an option to do that unless you do some rlly complicated stuff and have ddos protection an an advanced firewall manager for your home network.
