Sort of.
Plain, smooth worsted? Not really.
Black pinstriped? Not really in the US, can be okay in some other countries.
Heavily textured and/or patterned? Maybe. Kind of depends how much it resolves as charcoal.
Black corduroy? Absolutely.
As always, there are exceptions to everything. But unless you know how to do them, I wouldn't wear a black sport coat in general.
I’ve seen it done but one kind of wonders if the guy just wore the suit jacket without the suit unless the cut and construction is a bit more informal. Charcoal is a safer color for still looking a bit “business” about a sport coat IMO
You gotta know what you're doing with them. A black linen or cotton sport coat could be great in the right outfit. A black orphaned suit jacket would brick a fit.
GSH, black linen is a neat idea.
I wouldn't know how to pull it off, I think. But I like it. Same with black-black seersucker.
I have a new love for black linen. Hot goth summer baby
I wish I could pull off the all black look. Shirt, shoes, suit. Club/party, not goth or vampire cosplayer. I lack either the confidence, knowledge, and/or looks to do it right ;)
I was thinking more along the lines of a black linen jacket over a white mesh tank, some real wide pants, and some chunky black derbies
I know that's not your wheelhouse though
Haha I'm not fashionable enough
