I know there's an explanation at !cgnat
! CGnat
We may have bad news for you :C
Open your router's configuration interface. Somewhere you'll see something like 'external' or 'public' IP.
If your external IP is in one of the following ranges, you're basically screwed as long as portforwards go:
- 10.0.0.0/8
- 172.16.0.0/20
- 192.168.0.0/16
- 100.64.0.0/10
- any IPv6 address/range - This shouldn't be a problem, but Minecraft's IPv6 support is still rather quirky. You're at your own but we're happy if you share your experience.
You should ask your ISP for a public and IPv4 address (but this may cost you money).
NB: your internal IP should and most probably will be in one of the first three ranges, don't mix them up

How to check if your ISP performs CGNAT
Are you unsure whether your ISP is using CGNAT or not? Check out this comprehensive guide to learn how you can detect CGNAT's presence.
has a good few methods to check it
Compare the WAN address on the router to the IP you see when you go to ipchicken
If they're the same, they don't have CGNat. If they are different, they have CGNat
Thanks you 🙏
I was helping an user here to see if they had CGnat and I was a little confused on this lol
Afaik they got it working and they did not hat CGnat
So: For example
I have Spectrum as my ISP, I'm using their equipment as my router.
If I go to the "internet connectivity" page, it will be named differently based on their router.
And compare the IP there
To ipchicken.com
They're the same
So I'm not afflicted by cgnat
But on the other hand, if this page showed me "10.0.127.1" for example as my IP
(Or any IP in the ranges of !cgnat)
I would have CGNat
Hope this helps
