Fit ideas for a proposal event?
Hey everyone,
I am invited to a proposal and wanted to get some fit ideas. I have the basic fits like the ones from the basic wardrobe. I was thinking of wearing a Black polo with grey pants or pink polo with blue jeans? Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks

i'm not a huge fan of either tbh. white ocbd and olive-green fatigues, mocs/loafers/derbies is a very easy fit.
Don’t have olive green bottoms nor do I have any of these shoes. I do have a white OCBD, you think I can pair it with a khaki chino and some white sneakers?
yea thatd look fine
... what kind of event?
My best friend is doing a proposal and he wants me to be there lol
What are they wearing?
I believe he’s going to be wearing a suit
Okay, that helps a lot. There's a big difference between a surprise beach proposal, and a not particularly surprise michelin star restaurant proposal, see?
Anyways, if your friend is wearing a suit, then surely you need to get your formality somewhere in the same universe as him. Polo and jeans seems too far for me. Now again, maybe he's wildly overdressed for the venue, as it were, and you're the normal one /shrug which is why I asked what kind of event.
If I were in your shoes, in absence of more info, I'd want at least, well, some proper shoes, dress pants of some sort, a decent shirt (button-front long-sleeve even if not a full proper dress shirt), and a jacket. Not necessarily blazer / sport coat, but a jacket at least. This way you might be 1, 1.5 formality steps down from your friend, but not like, 3.
