Is there a way I can transfer my project to another railway user? What can I do about it?

Currently all my projects are separated by which I mean, I have separate account for all my clients. Cauz its easy to deliver if they want someone else to manage it. But right I'm the one who is managing it. For me personally it is preferable to use a pro plan and group clients to setup each of their needs in separate projects. But when they want to move away I would have to give them all their data and access to projects. My concern right now, is about database, its easy to deploy projects in a separate account but not with database it would have been amaizing to transfer ownership of project to a different railway user(client) when the time arrives.

Please provide your project ID or reply with N/A. Thread will automatically be closed if no reply is received within 10 minutes. You can copy your project's id by pressing Ctrl/Cmd + K -> Copy Project ID.

Im fairly certain I've seen the team say that with a pro account you can transfer ownership of a project to someone else, but I've never had a pro account myself, so I'm not exactly sure on the flow, I can tag in a team member tomorrow though!

It would lovely to have a demonstration of how that works. I'm kinda confused what all will I get with pro plan.

don't know if they can offer you a demonstration, but they would definitely be able to tell you how to do it, I'm sure it's simple I just don't know how to do it myself

Also one doubt, its completely okey to use the same credit card for multiple accounts right?.. is there a limit to it?
Brody
Brody•12mo ago
you'd pay for the accounts, so yeah its fine
woozi188
woozi188•12mo ago
okey, just wanted to make sure i'm not being considered to be spamming accounts.

multiaccounting used to be an instant ban, but now that railway is paid by default, it's totally fine to have multiple accounts

perfect love that. Also in the pricing page there is a mention of "Regions (Coming Soon)" only in the pro plan. What does that mean, can't hobby users not choose region?
Brody
Brody•12mo ago
but ideally you'd be on the pro plan, and so would the client you transfer the project too, commercial use and all that jazz

. Will see to it after a demo 🙂

not sure, it could end up being a pro only feature please don't hold your breath on a demo, I'm not sure that's something they offer to hobby users

thats sad. I don't want to pay money to try something that don't have clear answers to though.

unlikely to be limited to pro only, that pro plan also says horizontal scaling and private networking, but you can also use those on hobby

Brody•12mo ago

Brody•12mo ago
their first region would likely be EU since that is by far the most requested region

Re: regions - we currently have no plans for adding capacity in Mumbai or Bangalore. We'll likely be launching regions with one EU location and Singapore. Re: project transfers - unfortunately we are unable to offer a demo for this - but you can see an example of what the UI looks like at https://docs.railway.app/develop/projects#project-member-management under 'Transferring Projects'. NB: that both the sending and receiving accounts must be on the Pro plan.

can the account which got project transferred to downgrade to hobby plan after the project transfer, given the size of the project will fit within all the bandwidths? Is there an ETA for Singapore region ?

hey - I've just updated the docs. You should be able to do a project transfer with the hobby plan. Let us know if you encounter any issues with that. we're actively working on it and aiming to release to Priority Boarding customers late August or the first-half of September. Regions is touching nearly all our internal systems and is a large feature, so it's difficult for me to give you a better estimate.

Won't be able to test this to see transfer for myself. But I hope it works. Cause it logically makes sense. Well having a server here in india is a must for me, cauz all my base clients are from here. So i guess i will wait for railway to get more mature. Good luck to you guys. This is an Amaizing platform, I hope I get to use railway in the future.

No worries - I would suggest testing out latency when we launch regions and seeing if that has a noticeable impact for your use-case (Unless you have a regulatory requirement to need hosting in India).

Hopefully I get to do that.
