Please provide your project ID or reply with
N/A
. Thread will automatically be closed if no reply is received within 10 minutes. You can copy your project's id by pressing Ctrl/Cmd + K -> Copy Project ID.File storage of the container is by default ephemeral and will be deleted every time you deploy.
You can use volumes now and your files will persist through deploys
Or you can utilize something like S3 or R2 with Cloudflare
Volumes require enrollment in Priority Boarding, you can enroll by interacting with @Percy with the
/beta
command.
N/Aok then s3 it is π¦
Check our R2, itβs a bit cheaper than S3, yet still S3 compatible
where do i find information about the r2?
but what if i deploy a wordpress app? where does the content get stored if everything gets deleted?
https://www.cloudflare.com/en-gb/products/r2/
this template uses storage volumes
https://railway.app/template/EP4wIt
You would need to sign up for priority boarding with the beta slash command and then use volumes
i think volumes are fine. Btw i wrote a ticket to the support. Do you know when they get checked? I lost credits due to my mistake
what email did you email to?
oh email only for pro users
that was my content. I lost the first money π
then it wont be answered, re-send the email to [email protected], everyone can use that email for billing issues
oki
if i also could buy domains here π i would instantly swap to that service π looks cool
buy domains with namecheap or cloudflare
whats easier?
Both are extremely easy
how can you deliver this services so cheap? i would rather pay a few bucks to get me app up and running instead of buying my on vps, configuring docker etc. or is tit just that cheap nowadays?
i have seen that you remove the free plan next month, i hope you dont die like heroku π¦
Taking advantage of Google Cloud, Railway strives to be able to provide affordable pricing on a pay-for-use model. Railway just needs to remain sustainable instead of providing free services that cut out of the budget from the rest of the paying users on the platform.
ok
and why should i use you for my service instead of vercel? what are the benefits?
vercel is a completely different product?
vercel for frontend, railway for backend
vercel is fullstack and serverless. I can host my fullstack app there too
railway is not serverless
Yeah, but why use Vercel when railway exists?
Serverless is just another fancy buzzword to get you to pay more for the same thing. It still fires up a server when you make a call to the function
true. If there will be a limit usage feature im totally in on railway. this credit buy thing is so weired. i did it 2 time and i am still on the pay for use price
all in all, nice plattform and i can see my logs instantly
what about ci/cd? if i want to run some tests before railway is picking it up?
You would do CI/CD using something like GitHub actions or GitLab CI/CD and then deploy as long as everything passes
it will always be pay for usage, whether thats from credits or from card, is up to you
but if my credits are empty it will use my card, and i and i think a lot of others dont like it that there is no limit π pls bring that feature β€οΈ

Using Github Actions with Railway
Github Actions come with a pretty neat set of features to automate your workflows. In this post, we talk about using Github Actions to automate your deployments on Railway.
if you are on the credit based plan, once your credits are used, your services are stopped and you wont be charged
but i bought credits twice and i am still on my hobby plan
which will use my credit card
it will always be called the hobby plan
you do use your card to load credits, but railway will not load credits for you
so if my credits are empty,it will use my card
not if you are on the credit based plan
where can i see that?
or where can i switch to that one?
show me the billing section
and what does the manage subscription page look like
if i cancel i lose my credits again, thats why i contacted the support
okay so yes the current plan you are on does mean that your card can get charged after the credits run out
and i have seen this concern so many times, and i just dont understand where the worrying comes from? like do you plan on leaving for a vacation and not checking on anything? you get an email for usage warnings, so youd have to be totally offline for a while to get any large surprise bills
it is just a bad feeling to know be sure that you dont wake up with minus thousands of dollars . What is so hard to put a usage limit on it?
π
that would be very hard to do
the cause for concern is low
then how can i switch to the plan u told me?
i honestly would recommend agiant the credit plan, just watch your emails
but to answer the question, you cancel the current plan and sign back up this time choosing the credit based plan
then i lose my credits again
i tried it π
yes
but you signed up for the same plan lol
you didnt sign up for the credit based plan
let me wait until the support contacts me, i just wait for now π
might take a few days
