Simulation distance and view distance
I was reading some paper optimization guides (https://paper-chan.moe/paper-optimization/#Hosting-Options and https://github.com/YouHaveTrouble/minecraft-optimization) and I'm a little bit confused on how to configure simulation distance and view distance. One of the guides says I shouldn't go lower than 5 on simulation distance and the other says to put it low, around 3 or 4, so ???
And for context Im making a survival server with some plugins for 15 players playing simultaneously and hosting it in a good hardware with 8gb RAM

This really just depends on you. Minigame servers don't need a very high sim distance generally, but a vanilla respecting survival server would want a sim distance of 8 to keep to the 128 block despawn rule
Generally never need a sim distance above 8, and below 3 is excessive
View distance 8-10 is pretty standard, 16 if it's a smaller server
