Barbour Jacket Recs
Recently got a gift card for Barbour and want to buy a jacket. Do folks have thoughts on the Bedale vs Beaufort? Thinking the Bedale will be better for a short person (5'7). Also wondering if folks have thoughts on the classic vs regular and the color options.
Also, have heard some recommendations to size up a size?

bedale, classic, same size if u pref roomy fit
Bedale off the rack is shorter then the Beaufort but they will shorten it for you if you send it in for pretty cheap. I prefer the Beaufort for its more classic cut and incredibly handy game pocket (books, candy for the movies, magazines/ newspapers and a sandwich are just a few of the things I’ve used it for). Classic wax looks better and I’d go for the tried and true olive.
This is how I’ve styled my classic Beaufort, I think the olive green is a great color and it patinas very nicely. I’m 5 foot 9 and wearing a size 34. The classic cut on the Beaufort allows it to be worn over a suit or blazer comfortably and the extra length means it will always cover the jacket underneath as seen in the last picture.
I always worry about rumpling my suits if I wear it beneath mine haha
I’ve yet to experience any rumple 🤷♂️
I think I like the idea of a Barbour jacket more that I would like owning one..
It definitely depends on wether you can handle waxed clothes or not imo, some people hate it. The jacket itself is amazing, I wasn’t fully on the train but I bought it to give it a shot and fell in love.
What do you mean by handle? What makes them difficult?
I’ve heard some people say that the residue created by waxed cotton irritates them. I guess it can be strange wearing a garment that is almost sticky to the touch, especially if it’s new or recently re waxed. If you touch it the wax will leave a slight residue on your hands.

I think Bedale looks great too but I just got a classic Beaufort (1st ever Barbour) and love it. Wore it around for the first time this weekend and felt powerful 🌟
I suspect the length is scaled to the size. For reference, I'm 5'10 and the Beaufort is a nice comes down over my pockets length. Definitely worth trying on though to see what you like.
