Feedback on my freelancing website
Hey guys! If you could leave some feedback/impressions that would be fantastic! Still need to do finishing touches and add pages since none of the links go anywhere but need to get this out ASAP π

It's looking really good so far. I like the clean design and am a big fan of this light purple accent color.
and I like the theme of 'growing your page' and how you incorporated that into the various page elements
My thoughts on areas you could improve or iterate:
1. It feels like the animation speed in the selected works section is maybe too fast, but I can't tell if it's just because you have the same placeholder video in all the sections. So this might not be an issue
2. The primary nav - It is uncontained so it gets a bit out of hand on very wide resolutions. Also, if you don't have a logo, I think it might be good to come up with a brand mark to add next to your name. Or, to make the name font or weight more than the navigation text, just to differentiate it some
3. the hero - the text might be too wide on bigger screens, maybe a smaller max-width on the p tag? I would also love some sort of visual interest here in the bg or something to offset the text. I like the button, it's very unique. Maybe the hover animation could change the scale of the flowers or be a bit more of a color change so it's noticeable. Also, you could probably cut out "for your local busienss" from the title. It would be snappier, and I dont' think it takes away from the message
4. the next section - I am not sure what it is, but I assume there is supposed to be something inside this giant square dotted outline eventually.
5. I like the little circle accents for the following sections, really cool. I am not a big fan of repeating the layout style in 'Selected works' and 'what my clients are talking about', I might go for a different way to display one of these sections
6. Footer is maybe too big. You could cut out quite a lot of vertical space here, I would decrease it at least 50% and see how it looks with the text closer to the end of the page
Hey ghostmonkey! Thank you for all the critiques, I agree with all of them! I am working on paying a guy for a logo now, and there will be a video reel of all my work inside the square section inside the hero π
no worries man, looking forward to seeing the final product
oh! one other thing I noticed, is check out your breakpoint for the hamburger menu, if you scale into it, you can actually see the menu sliding out of frame just before the breakpoint is reached
Good catch! Thanks
Love the design and agree with @ghostmonkey regarding the colors and general theme.
I have only looked at it on mobile and just have 2 observations:
The opacity of the slide out nav is possibly too transparent as it is quite hard to differentiate between the nav items and the main contents.
In your βHow it worksβ section I feel that the images are too large - they take up half of the screen height (at least on my iPhone)
Thanks Chris! Great points π
I was just looking at it on my desktop and feel that those images (How it works) are also too large there too - they rather predominate over the actual content
I would bring them down to at least 50% of their current size
Oh sheesh alright yea I'll definitely have to play with the sizes then haha
The might be a small issue in the nav. the nav background becomes transparent when you are scrolling up and the text merges with the page content
This happens only with the first section
Also this might be intentional, i just noticed a price discrepancy over here
Yup ty! The nav is still a work in progress; right now it's like that intentially but I'll probably change it.
Also been pretty busy, let me know what you guys think:
I'm getting the main video done now, and still working on portfolio videos/images

Copy definitely needs to be better π
but still learning that
And I still need to implement a lot of ghostmonkey's changes, trying to do the more functional stuff rn haha
i agree with other comments:
on large screens, the content spills out and stretches from one side to the other. they need to be more contained in a narrower column, like your intro title and paragraph. the background for the top nav is transparent only over the first section. the links in your footer nav are also inactive if it is not mentioned yet.
overall, it is looking great! i really like your fonts choices.
Ty! π
Fixed all of that just now. I still have the content a bit wide because that's what I'm going for, but I reduced it from 120rem (~1920px) to 100rem (~1600px)
I love it ...your color theme looks so pleasant β€οΈ

@vince mind if I ask what is the tech stack you have used for this site?
Just astrojs
And sass
Ohh. I see. Sass for css. Cool ty. I'm currently learning astrojs, but I have no knowledge in any css framework. We'll try learning one
Sass isn't a framework, just a preprocessor. Which is a fancy way of saying "it adds features that don't exist in css and then compiles down to regular css"
I love sass tho
People just keep talking about how sass is amazing. I am definitely intrigued
