Can someone explain the new system?
I'm someone who uses relatively low resources like maybe 30 cents worth a month. Now with the new verification, my Github is considered unverified, which prevents me deploying anything new. So how does this work, some people are getting their fees waived? So are they on the previous starter plan basically? $5 and 500 hours? Or is it something new. And would paying make me verified? Which would in turn make my fees waived or would I pay for it monthly. Essentially what I'm asking is will I be able to go back to the previous starter plan [$5 and 500 hours] if I pay the 5 dollars one time to upgrade to hobby, or will I have to continuously pay $5 dollars a month to use these services? And are the people who are getting their fees waived never paying for their services?

the old trial plans no longer exists, you would have something in your dashboard that tells you what your upgrade path is
it will tell you if you can get the fee waived or if you have to pay the minimum 5$
Starter Plan (Unverified)
Unverified Starter Plans only get $2.00 in resource credits and a excution time limit of 200 hours, one time only. Verify your account to deploy GitHub Repos and extend your limits to $5 and 500 execution hours each month, every month.
(so this is temporary the each month every month is misleading no?)
Since its not longer going to exist
yes that plan is going to be fully phased out August 1st
best course of action right now would be to upgrade to the hobby plan, maybe you'll get the fee waived, you can check that through the upgrade button in the dashboard
so is the fee waiving a one time fee, or is it the monthly subscription
Continuous
But you'd need to upgrade
Likely since you haven't paid a bill in the past
so if the fee is waived, essentially its free
i'd be indefinitely on the hobby?
But if I pay and it doesn't get waived I would need to pay $60 a year?
Yes
assuming you always stay under the included 5$ usage, yes 5 times 12 equals 60
again i use minimal resources, I feel spending 5 dollars a month to only use $0.30 of it is wack. Is there an alternative like maybe just load credits into it that way my 5 dollars stretches losing $0.30 every month til I need to reload it.
I'm sorry that is not how the new hobby plan works
you can always host your stuff on a spare computer
Lemme see if we can restore the old credit system for you
no promises but you do have a point
no problem
I'm going to see anyways if spending the 5 will waive the monthly subscription. My Github is relatively old like three years, but I haven't used it until very recently since I've picked up coding in like late November and picked up Git properly a few months ago.
you wouldn't be charged right away, unless you are talking about loading credits
No not loading credits just upgrading
the yeah no harm in seeing what it says
alright π
you have until August 1st to decide
well I did it and I don't know if it was waived or not however I was charged immediately but it is pending so
you would have been told what was happening if you went through the button on the dashboard
like so
this is what I saw
Nope
It didn't say anything I went to the dash and all I saw were my projects, and in the top right it said unverified $2.00 200 hours
I clicked it and clicked verify
then I clicked the upgrade to hobby in the veryify screen
ah yeah you did not go through the correct path to show you that modal, but that doesn't actually change the outcome
in the billing screen it says this:
Hobby Plan
You are only billed for what you use minus a $5 discount every month. You have 3-day grace period to pay for your use
you do have to pay the 5$ minimum then, if Angelo wants to waive that for you, that's a different story
its fine
oh interesting
I'll eat this first payment but I don't think I will continue until maybe I beef up on projects to use more usage
Let me know about the credit system if anything happens
And by the way I just canceled the hobby plan thinking it would stay active until it needs to renew on August 3rd however it straight up deactivated and sent me down to unverified starter plan again so I hope the $5 dollar charge that is pending doesn't go through.
@Angelo
it went through by the way
