Hi! I'm confused about what has changed with the new Hobby plan vs what I had before. Previously, I paid for usage with a $5 discount every month. After switching to the new Hobby plan, it says I'm billed for usage minus a $5 discount every month.
What changed?

You’ll continue to be able to use the service with the updated plan, as you did before, with a waived plan fee of $5 a month. This is a developer plan to hobby plan transition for verified users with recent changes.
But like.... is anything functionally different about it?
hobby plan has the same resources and resource costs as the old dev plan
I don’t believe anything has been exactly changed at the moment but will probably be the case soon with changes.

the trial plan stays, but instead of you getting 5$ or 500hours every month, you get a one time 5$ credit with no time limit
oh alright, much better than before for a project with not much usage
Do the credits not expire at the end of the month? (then renews)
yes exactly, now you could run a low resource usage app for over a month without a pause! i think its great

On the trial plan, the Hobby plan gets $5 discount credits monthly. (don’t rollover)
Gonna shoot an email to the team with feedback on this. I'm totally fine with plan changes, but I think there could be better coms around renaming a plan with no functionality changes.

Ah that was nice of them to waive the $5/mo fee for me 🙂 Railway is totally worth paying a minimum, but I'll take it!
and its 5$ for the account, not per project/app like some other services
That's why I ❤️ railway - I can run all sorts of projects without it being $100/mo 🙂
