Incredibly High Ping

I'm running a server that has a local velocity proxy, and runs thru TCP Shield for security. I have it set so my servers have a network-compress-threshold of -1 (to disable it), and in my velocity config it is set to 9 (the highest level of compression) I found these settings to be the best for lowering ping, and CPU usage is of absolutely no concern (sub 1% always). After that change the ping improved drastically. However me and other players ping is still always above 250ms. Are there anymore changes I should make? Is there anything specifically I should investigate? Note: I use Spark to view these stats. ty!

If you compress every packet, or do too much compression, it will cause lag for peopple with slower computers since it needs to get decompressed on their netty thread before it can be processed

is the server far away from you

250ms sus can you ping the ip of the server in cmd/terminal is it different from ingame ping
Typhoon
TyphoonOP2y ago
no, because tcp shield will block it

oh tcpshield drops ping packets interesting well you can still ping the source ip of the server itself, no?

something to note is that the ping is around 60 in the server selector

and the ping steadily increases over the course of about 4 minutes when I join the server, then it peaks at ~250
CaffeineAddict
