Customise 'titleContentName' content of Form Select component relationship

I'm just wondering if there's a means of customising the contents of the titleContentName (and hence the data that appears in the UI lozenges) other than by using a custom query builder to create a "fake" column at runtime? Specifically, I'd like to optionally combine the contents of two columns in the relationship match depending on the data in question. e.g.: Rather than just showing the name property, I might want to show the name, but also the revision number if it's not 1. I'm guessing I'll likely need to create my own custom version of the Select form component, but thought I'd check before I go down that path. Hope that makes sense. 🤞
