Can't get naked domain to work
It tells me that I need to add @ as a host name. When I do that google tells me to leave it empty. Then when I leave it empty it tells me that "Can't add CNAME records for the root domain."

google domains does not support root level cnames, you would have to use cloudflares nameservers
Hmm. I somehow managed to do it for another website awhile ago but I can't seem to be able to recreate the process and I was wondering if they have changed things again.
So donadogs.org for example works without www
you just simply cant do it with google domains, i don't know what you did but you didn't set a root level cname
use cloudflare's nameservers
