I downloaded iris and its a jar file, but what do I do from there

I assume you downloaded the iris installer jar and don't have java installed. You can download java here: https://adoptium.net/

after installing java you should be able to run the installer

you don't need to install it on the server.
The curseforge launcher isn't well supported, the installer only installs to the vanilla launcher. You can manually put the iris and sodium jars in the mods folder though after downloading them from modrinth
in the curseforge modpack mods

minecraft mods
in the mods folder of the pack you want to add them in

what do u think the best shaders are
there are a lot of good shaders depending on what you like and on your pc specs. I personally think complementary shaders strike a good balance, but please do try other shaders as well to figure out which one is best for you.

If you still have java installed jarfix should've helped

no, only the installer will open
if you downloaded mod jars, these need to be installed differently
by moving them into the mods folder
this assumes you did a fabric install previously and are using the fabric profile in the launcher

when i bring it into the curseforge mod folder it changes it to our sever

this is a bug in the cf launcher
we recommend using other modded launchers like prism or gdlauncher if you want to manage seperate modded instances and download cf modpacks

Yeah, that’s Iris. Curseforge is really bad with detecting mods and displaying the correct one in the GUI
