Idk what im looking for here.
looks like Y is pretty good but X still a bit dodgy. idk what to really look for with my belt tension graph, but it looks like X might just have something loose ?????

please show me a photo of your left motor
front view
so that i can see the motor pulley
Good enough?
oh it looks a bit out of alignment ?
now from the top
if its possible as centered as possible
this is as centred and as level as i could get it
ok, this looks good, jsut wanted to make sure your belts arent super overtighted
ah yes
i did the pen trick
you have some issues, with both belts
there shouldnt be a peak at 125 hz, at least not that big
so there must be something vibrating, or is tootally loose
did 8mm on the pen. a bit high.
i recommend to check your complete motion system
when i do resonance should i have the part cooling on ?
every idler stack, check if everything is ok
part cooling and hotend fan ?
also check your eva toolhead, make sure everything is tight
everything that moves
belt system, idelers, toolhead, .....
also make sure that the belts are parallel over the whole length
i mean should i have the two of those fans on during the resonance ?
no
ok
ill check everything
takes some time until you get it done, but you need to do that
belts look parallel the whole way through
also, jsut to be sure, loosen your belts a bit
do not overtight them, these are not rubber bands
these were my results for 6mm on pen
looser
pen?
forget the other graphs
belt tension first
if this is done then input shaper
what do you mean with pen?
klicky pen thing
no no
this is only for experienced users
ok
you dont know if your pen is the same like 8c uses#
also looks like you have much shorter belts than hgim
how do i figure out the tension
you cant, its a learning process
yeah much shorter, 200mm vcore
jsut make sure they re not too loose
yes, then you cant use the pen mmethod
loosen them
okay loosened and checked everything along with tightened all the bolts up
new graph
hmm
hmmm indeed
i didnt do any tensioning.
just loosened till very loose and tighten till they felt the same by hand
rough
but not too tight
i guess you have some binding issues probably
please make sure the belt isnt grinding somewhere
belts binding to an idler or something ?
also inside the motorcages, you probably need to open it
to a printed part
i higkly suggest to upodate to the FMMM mod
btw. this is the new X.
a lot higher
forget these graphs
you need to first finish the belt tension thing
👍
guess ill go disassemble the belts 😦
my guess is that your belts are binding inside the two motor cages
its a bit strange that you have such a high 125hz peak, this shouldnt be the case, but thats maybe related to the binding
@miklschmidt could you have a short look please?
again ,i recommend to upgrade to the FMMM mod
using a secondary pair of motor plates instead of the printed cages
they do solve a lot of issues
lets wait what the grandmaster says
btw im nozzle mounting the adxl
ive got an adafruit adxl 343
meh
dont do that
so it doesnt fit the toolhead mount
please do it like everyone else here
and i highly recommend not to sue the adafruit adxl
go and get some GY291 breakouzts, htey cost only pennys
cant. screws arent the same distance as the gy291
they do fit exactly ontot he EVA mounting part
the adafgruit ADXL is not recommended at all
trust me, get some GY291s
they do cost nothing
where?....
you get them everywhere on amazon or ebay or ali express
all the gy291s cost 10 bucks a pop on my amazon....
14 delivery....
jsut search for them in google or whatever
you can buy them almost everywhere
the 343 was 5gbp last i checked..
no, GY291
nothing else, its jsut hte best bet
order them somewhere and also get the FMMM Mod
trust me
....................
aliexpress
my only bet
but it will take 40 days to get to me
i find over 100 amazon entries
you just need to search a bit
amazon uk
not .com
its got nothing of worth unfortunately. either expensive accel and medium shipping or cheap accel and expensive shipping
ask in #self-sourcing
brexit sucks he
ye...
its not even my country....
ok , you know what to do
set fire to the prime ministers office ?
FMMM ill assume its this kit ?
just did a printables search and this is where i landed.
ye ye
cool cool
shame its not a thing in the normal vcore kit.....
the kit is solid
there is always room for improvements
ye
from moving with my hand the belts seem very smooth
no bumps no change in resistance.
ok, i have to go now
does not feel like catching at all
oki thanks for the help
you dont feel that
you cant
I pretty much agree with everything here, those graphs are fucked. Mount an ADXL345 in the usual spot, all experience and knowledge in here goes out the window when you chose to go off-script like that (nothing can be compared anymore) and you're pretty much on your own.
thnx
so i rebuilt the cages
this is a loose belt tension
did you get a new ADXL and did you monuted it already to the right place?
mounted to the right place by just printing a new eva mount with wider screw mounts
no new adxl, waiting for that from aliexpress
125hz, looks liek something is loose ? same sorta shaped curve just offset a bit
whats an example of a really good belt tension graph ?
ahhhhh
uniform and peaks are inline
im guessing my "peaks" being jagged is indicative of belts catching somewhere at those frequencies.
i just noticed. my upper belt at the clamp seems to be twisted a bit.
like the top of the belt is in tension while the bottom feels and looks loose and saging.
even worse now..
i rebuilt the whole belt run.
@helgekeck ...... its a bit better.
that tiny upper peak is annoying tho.
your belts are binding
something is heavily vibrating
wait for the correct adxl and then mount it like the rest of us,
can i still run the shaper graphs ? for the time being. idk whats binding but ive the FMMM coming.... in a month
of course you can
you jsut cant expect good results
you can totally print
👍 i think the issue might be the frame might be out of square a bit. so some belts might be rubbing. ill rebuild once the FMMM is in. while im on this topic is cutting the X extrusion good ? ill assume it reduced the stiffness but its lighter.
its binding and vibrations
dont cut the x gantry
👍
i checked all the idler stacks, they are all good with the right amount of bearings and shims.
i rebuilt the motor cages and the front two corner cages.
just accept it like it is for the moment
wait for the correct adxl and the FMMM mod
i rebuilt the X gantry cages but i noticed this
it doesnt make any sense to try this now
this belt doesnt sit parallel to the other
sits like this.
yup yup.
Your 2020 extrusion might not be far enough inside the joiners.
Take it out, clear out the holes, put it back in. Do that a couple of times till it goes in smoothly, all the way, in both sides.
I think your parts might be just a tad too tight
you can also slghtly align the gantry to the left and right side, its minimal but it helped me already.
by loosening the joiner plate screws
This could be the cause of the problems you're seeing in your graphs.
If it's severe enough to cause some Y rail binding
Could also not mean anything at all, only one way to find out 😄
its inside fully. i checked for this in my last rebuild of it 😄
Then it's prolly just rail centering
Y rail ?
its as centre as i can make it with the jigs
and running the gantry with no belts on its smooth. no change in resistance whats so ever
im gonna rebuild the frame with some clamps and a better square once i get my FMMM
as for now. its okay.
ive got some prints out at 15k and its not too bad
although with the centring jigs i did notice on one side it grabs the extrusion better than the other side...
maybe i should go find the other pair and match them up properly.
i tried as much as i could, gained about 1mm but still looks like its pushed to one side more.
maybe the length of extrusion is just a smidgen long
or short
then you have to double check your frame
yeah
rebuild is in place once fmmm and i think ill also go get the electronics panel cut lol
@miklschmidt ..... FMMM
little bit more tension
dampening issues ?
hmmmmmmmmmmm
Very close, make sure the peaks line up and call it a day 👍
how come the peaks are in the wrong place ?
ive tensioned to 9lbs of force using spectoid method. (i know this might not be true to the value)
......
okay i guesss ill take it
lol
annoying its still not right but ill take it
hmmmm
GY291 mounted to eva
looks like its wobblying....
somehow
ill try nozzle mount since it was better before.
this is the nozzle mount belt graph....
ooof
rapido uhf long hotend lol
ooof
I don't think nozzle mount accelerometers make sense for checking belt tension. There's just too much noise.
