General opinions?
Trying to find a good balance without putting too much stuff together. The general idea is to be my personal portfolio and i wanna keep a very minimalist while clean look that can feels amazing when you see at first (unique). Idk if i should go to code itself or if i need to work/put more stuff, since i tried and i made it very messy tbh

I almost want to suggest swapping the manga background from the white part to the black part
If you're going for the minimalistic look I think the textured background where the content is is a bit too distracting
which one is better?
without the manga part and pure black or the other one?
i can put with a lower opacity as well
I was thinking maybe you could invert the black in the manga image to white and then lower the opacity and put it in the black if that makes sense
Let me go into figma and see what I can come up with
something like this?
but the manga itself would be applied in both parts or only in the lower black one?
ok ok

Maybe something like this? You'd have to mess around with the navbar style and placement though
what do you think now?
or like that?
is a lot cleaner
Definitely not the first one in my opinion. I don't really see the need for the home or email buttons either
I mean, since is a portfolio, should be a way to contact me, no? Is like Experience, Who am i/Me, Skills (in portuguese)
i thought the email/contact section is a must
Yea but that's why you put it in the button I had in the middle of the page because it's the most important part; it's what you want your user to do when they visit the webpage
Right now you have it in the top right where it's out of the way
Right now I just think there's just way too much noise if you're trying to go for something minimalistic but that's my opinion I suppose
Also you really have to think whether you want the manga panels in your portfolio or not
Who are you trying to appeal to? Employers? Manga panels might not be the best choice for your target audience as it's not super professional
Just my 2 cents
that's actually a good advice
i thought the design itself was kinda ass tbh when starting but i really love that concept, i just don't like the navbar itself i think
but you're right, i'll rip off the manga panels
After i saw everything you did and so on, i was thinking about change the top navbar for a left one with icons only, what do you think?
There's a lot of minimalistic portfolio designs you can take inspiration from. I like grabbing sites from dribbble and pinterest and getting inspiration from a broad range of websites before creating my own
If you do it like that the balance would be off
oh true
but if i change from strings to icons, do you think will feel good?
and more clean
I think text would look better personally
ok, wait, lemme try some fonts then
I typically just use poppins for everything, I think it's a really good general use font
Looks better?
i'll try this font later, thx for that tip
i don't like the button that much, feels weird
maybe like this?
If you want the button to be the main action in the page it shouldn't be in the corners like that
and like that?
or i can just delete these text in the middle where it shows frontend dev and my name
then put to appears only when clicking at Me tab
or like this i feel is more clean
I don't really like the japanese text in the middle, doesn't really add anything and pushes the main button down for no reason
idk i just got a vibe from it, no idea exactly why tho
i was just trying to not give that empty space and common portfolio that every does without any detail, just text and colour
not even like this?
also i pretend to keep that and just add stuff on top once you click
I don't personally like it honestly, I think it would be better if you look up inspiration from dribbble/pinterest and put your own spin on things
nah, dw then, i'll rip it off tbh since is just a word
like that is good?
Spacing and alignment both look off
Look up the 8 point rule
oh yeah, i'm doing in photoshop just to get a basis
i'm not coding yet or something
so the alignment is kinda off :/ about spacing, i'll try to learn more but at least in this way is better?
random question but always feels better when is centering the both text or i can put like one slightly to the right and the other to the left?
like
>
. . . <
instead of
>
<
or is weird ?
Nah don't do that
Keep all the alignment consistent
Ok!
i'll write that
is a good insight
I would recommend looking up ui/ux fundamentals on youtube
Also that's the point of looking up other websites that are doing what you want to do because they can help you build those good habits
yeah, i got very different websites when i was looking up
and most of them, wasn't actually a website
it was more like a prototype as well
Honestly if you have money to spend I recommend DesignCourse's UI/UX course
It's 100$ USD
But will teach you a lot of this stuff I'm talking about
You can learn for free on youtube as well will just take longer probably
thx a lot vince
for real
you helped me a ton and i learn many things with you, this was really helpful, i'll try some stuff and keep going (:
awesome glad to help good luck 🙂
