Existing fabrics mods doesn't work after I switched to Iris+Sodium loader
I previously used fabric loader with its mods on it. Then heard about Iris+Sodium loader for better performance, so I downloaded the Iris+Sodium installer, opened and click "Fabric Install". I just left my fabric mods from the mod default folder, however, after opening minecraft. Only the shaders applied but the rest of the mods didn't work. Did I missed or done anything incorrectly? I tried to revert back to Fabric loader and added Iris and Sodium mods, after awhile minecraft simply crashed.

the iris profile uses a seperate mods folder, to use iris with mods, install iris and sodium manually
the iris installer has an option to install as a mod
or you can download the mods from modrinth
as for why it's crashing
might need a log to figure that out
@Dad
How to get a log file:
Game logs can be found in the
logs
sub-directory in .minecraft on clients, or the logs
sub-folder of the server directory for servers. We're probably interested in the file named latest.log
, which you can drag and drop into Discord.Tag requested by Kristal#9680
hope this helps
can't see any options how to install with mods? or you mean to drag the installer itself to the mods folder to act as a mod?
installation type : fabirc install will install iris (and probably sodium) as mods
may i know the directory?
iris install installs it in a different folder seperate from the normal profile
you shouldn't use that folder for modding

Reply to: may i know the directory?
instead select fabric install, and press install
i already did
wait was the installer changed?
sorry excuse me I am not up to date on the information
Did you also select the fabric profile in the launcher afterwards, or did you continue to use the iris one?

Reply to: i already did
i continue with the iris loader as I removed my fabric loader
ah
you need to use the fabric loader
as of why it's crashing, it seems to be caused by the scoreboard of the server you're joining
i see, so after installing iris+sodium as fabric install option, still opt with the fabric loader instead of iris one?
correct

The fabric install option will not install the iris loader, but a fabric profile instead, so yes.
next question, should I remove the iris mod and sodium mod form the default mod folder? as these were manually added by me
you can reuse the iris one, but you'll have to point it to the normal minecraft folder which is more complex than just installing fabric again
keep it there

Sorry I am terrible at support it seems
ohh so this is new to me
no worries, you're doing great! 🙂
alright let me try again, removing previous laoder
im now reinstalling iris sodium as fabric
reinstating mods back to default mod folder
launching minecraft
it works great, no crash or whatsoever, thanks a lot for the support! 🙂
As a side note, iris and sodium always use an unmodified fabric loader (except for changing some paths when using the iris install option), so you don't get any perf improvement from that
@Dad If you're looking for additional perf improvement you should install lithium and starlight. You can find both mods on modrinth.
Immediately Fast is also a very good mod
