Project with Upstream Repo Won't Update
I have a project that is linked to an upstream repo, but despite clicking on "Check for updates", it always says "You're on the latest version of this repository." What am I doing wrong?

Anyone have any ideas?
Has the repo been updated with upstream changes? Railway can't pull from main or change your Github repo in any way. It just pulls what exists on Github
Yes, the upstream repo has updated. I expected railway to create a branch and PR with the changes from the upstream
No, Railway does not do that for you
It did it once...
When? As far as I know that's never been a feature
And the docs indicate it should: https://docs.railway.app/reference/templates#updatable-templates
You didn't mention this involved templates.
Those docs are outdated. Since they were written, Railway has open sourced the templates and are no longer actively maintaining them. I'm not sure if that feature still exists
Sorry, I thought the only way to have a link to an upstream repo was by using templates
Yes, that is the only way
That sounds really odd because it auto created a PR once
And in my service I see a section for upstream repo and a button for checking for updates
I'm not seeing this, where is that option?
Under General after source repo
Can you send a screenshot? Still not seeing it. That might only show up if you're on a downstream repo
Yes, you have to deploy a template to see it
Hmm, not sure about this one sorry. I haven’t touched templates in a while
Another conductor or someone else who’s used this feature of templates can help you out
