Black names above players on Mesa
Names aren't rendering properly on Mesa 23.0.3 (and latest mesa-git) on an AMD card when any shader pack is enabled. This only seems to be happening on Mesa (both RadeonSI and zink), as I couldn't reproduce this on Windows 11.

could you test the newest Iris build?
#unstable-releases
Just tried 1.6.2rc1, still has the same issue
Weird... I use Adrenaline and I get the same issue
you mean you have the same issue on windows?
yeah win10 + adrenaline amd card drivers installed
might be cause i haven't updated adrenaline in a while, are you running latest?
yep
alright that makes it even weirder, I guess it's happening on both latest mesa and latest adrenaline but not older adrenaline
it's definitely not a configuration issue as i copied the exact same instance from linux to windows and it wasn't happening there
I've tested older adrenaline 21
Still, I run into the same issue besides the lag and other visual glitches such as missing / funky textures
I guess buying AMD was the worst mistake of my life lol
nope only issue i'm having is black text
which gpu do you have?
its an integrated ryzen 3200g
no doubt - its a hell of an APU
I get (or used to before 1.19.4) +60 frames with shaders on
I tried downgrading sodium but welp it didn't work, I still get awful performance as well as visual glitches
then I thought to myself could it be the shaders themselves? nope, because I've tested all of them and none are working properly - they are all glitchy, even the updated ones
odd thing is that when I ask some friends of mine they say Sildurs as an example works perfectly fine
they're whether lying or playing a previous Minecraft / Iris version
haha
I'll test Iris 1.6.2 RC one more time to see if that fixes it
Sorry for taking a while, I've just updated to Adrenaline 23.4.2 which is the latest for me (was previously running on 23.3.1) and there just seems to be roughly no major performance difference between 1.6.0, 1.6.1 and 1.6.2rc1, if anything the latter two run better
I also am unable to reproduce any of the issues you listed on either version of Adrenaline (based on a few minutes of running around, anyways), including the issue I've opened this thread for, which I can still only get, consistently, on mesa (on both radeonsi and radv/zink and with several packs, including bsl and sildurs off the top of my mind)
Hopefully 1.6.2rc1 fixes your issues but as I'm not getting any issues on Windows/adrenaline I'm not sure it's completely related to this specific bug
... welp, it didn't
black texts are still there
odd looking textures
and I'm still getting ~30 fps
the craziest thing is that the very moment I switch back to my other 1.19.3 instance it works just FINE!
might as well have nothing to do with drivers at all!
my reasoning might as well be that the issue has nothing to do with drivers otherwise my game wouldn't run so smooth in the previous version even when shaders are turned on
I kid you not...
Can this be fixed Iris-side or should I go report this to mesa?
