BLTouch pin too close to bed when generating bed mesh.

When I set the zoffset for the bltouch to 0, there seems to be a decent gap between the pin tip and the bed before the bed raises, but when I set the zoffset, to 4.480 in my case, there is next to no space between the bed and the pin, which is extra scary when running the keep deployed method. What's the best way I can increase the bed drop when probing mesh, and why does somthing seem suspicious about this. I'd assume this'd be somthing already solved, Is my bltouch just gifted with a longer pin , it is genuine. I've just recently done an upgrade from the old ratos version to the shiny new one, but that seems to have worked, this issue notwithstanding.
