Is it worth the effort to ensure websites are responsive at extremely small screen sizes?
Hello guys, I hope you're all doing well! 👋
I need your advice on something that's been on my mind lately. I've been spendig a bunch of time to making sure my websites are responsive below 310 px width, but I'm starting to question if it's worth the effort. It's become quite confusing for me and I'm not sure if it's necessary. So, I thought I'd turn to you for your honest opinion.
Do you believe it's worth investing time in ensuring responsiveness below 310 px, or is it not as crucial as we once thought?

If that comes up, I usually check which devices have those resolutions. Except for the Galay Fold I am not aware of any devices below 320px. (to be fair, I usually take 360px and go up from there, afaik there are nearly no devices below 360px, but I am no expert in mobile)
If you find devices that small and their popularity in your usergroup is high enough to justify the effort or ask your customer/boss if they are willing to pay extra for that.
If it is a project for yourself, is it practice or you are doing it to show off? Go for it (and if its a portfolio tell it to the people you show it; "you can also view this website on your smartwatch."😁).
Hello @daswolle 👋
Yeah I totally agree with you. I think it's important to consider the popular screen resolutions among our target audience while designing websites or apps. And to answer your question, YES I use responsive design for my personal projects currently, but I do sometimes receive designs from clients with specific dimensions, such as 375px for mobile or maybe less. In those cases, I try to use the provided dimensions as a starting point and then adjust the design to work well on smaller screens as well.
I think there are some websites out there that work on smart watches, which are really small, but I personally don't. If that's somehow your target demographic I would though
Alright @vince. I'll keep that in mind, I'm not specifically targeting smartwatch users at the moment, but yeah I think optimizing websites for smart watches is a pretty cool idea. Thanks for the information though! 🙌🏻
