What does the @ in CNAME do?

Hi, I'm still bashing the "www." vs no "www." prefix for my website.
I was wondering what the @ actually does?
As you can see, Railway has found both domains (see screenshot), but using https://warno-armory.com results in
ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED
(where as https://www.warno-armory.com does not).
Is having the @ in front of my Railway domain related to my issue?10 Replies

(Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm new to this whole hosting thing. I've worked as a Java/Spring dev in fintech for 6 years now, and I never had to handle any domains.)

Thanks for letting me know @TUWM .
My domain provider looks a bit different.
I managed to get it to work SOMEWHAT by adding an A record from the non-www to my railway.app. This link is https but unsecure beause the cert is bad.
Other than that, I don't have the same types as you:

Just checkdomain.net.
Turns out this does the trick.
