LOD Chunks just won't load

I'm assuming this is a reasonably common issue given how much I run into it (yes, steps in the FAQ have been followed), but I can't seem to find any "help me" posts regarding it. At random points, the game will stop trying to load and render LODs. This can happen after switching between dimensions, or just by leaving and rejoining a world or server. This affects all LODs for all worlds and servers. I can't manage to get any error messages, nor does anything appear when messing with the debug views. I am not using Iris or any shaders. Wondering if this has happened to anyone before and if there's any threads I can be pointed to, or what the best way to go about getting some debug info to share would be.

*The LODs only begin to reappear after I join in another instance of the game. Also, the changes made to the terrain while the LODs aren't rendering are still stored and are already present after restarting. Purely a visual issue.

I've run into this issue before, unfortunately I'm not sure what the cause is or if it has been fixed in the dev branch https://gitlab.com/jeseibel/minecraft-lod-mod/-/issues/477

It has been fixed in the dev build, but is still an issue in the stable versions.

Out of curiosity, any clue what it was?

I'm not sure exactly. My guess is that there was a bug in the level save/load/unload logic where it would get stuck.
