Background using as an image ?

Hi, I am trying to create this block. So, it has two images. I tried to use position but it did not help also lost the responsiveness. If the background was black image, then box-shadow would have solved the problem. What is the recommendation to create something like this ? Thanks

Pseudo element with position: absolute I'd think I don't think you'd lose responsiveness if you did it right
