Portfolio Feedback

Hi guys, I have 2 versions of my portfolio: the current one I have and the new one I just made. My current one is: https://vince1444.github.io/ and my new one I just made is: https://timely-alfajores-db7d79.netlify.app/. My question is, I like the new UI of the one I just made (I've been on a minimalism kick recently) but it definitely conveys less information than the one I currently have. Do you think it's too little info? I think it is... I should probably have some clean and minimalistic way (maybe on hover on the h1?) to show my socials, but not sure if there's a better way... Anways, let me know any feedback you guys might have. Much appreciated 😊

One thing I have noticed when developers say they are using 'minimalism' is that they think it means just having the page as empty as possible. But in reality minimalism is about stripping everything away and leaving only the core message of the subject matter. For example, if you were to make a minimalist dining room, it would still have a dining table and chairs but it wouldn't have a bunch of other pieces of furniture that aren't used for the dining experience in this case, the purpose of a portfolio is to identify your person, show your work, and provide a means for the viewer to contact you so long story short, you need to at least add those three things, 🙂

Right, that makes sense! I guess the question is how to add that info in a concise way as possible is what I'm looking for 🤔

one strategy, is you could start with only the text you want to use (like creating a CV) and then 'wireframe' that text onto a page until it looks really good through simple formatting. Then build out whatever decorative elements you want around it and as you look at the page, just consider it from the HR person's perspective. They don't know you at all, so they need to see something that shows them you can do what you say. If you want to keep the landing page minimal, you can always link to a portfolio page that shows off the work in it's own section etc

Okay awesome, I was actually thinking about doing that as I really want to just keep it the same concise-ness as shown here, so I might just add some buttons underneath the header/at the bottom with links to my github/linkedin/resume Thank you, I'll update here with what I come up with! 😁

Same! I actually got inspiration from Misha Sosnin (he posts here sometimes) and it looks so great paired with Fraunces and Inter

it's funny becaue I can't stand beige in house paints, but I think on the web, beige and other light browns are criminally underused given how good they look

I'm no designer but I think it gives off a very simple but professional look and it's nice on the eyes compared to white
