Killstreak Queries

So I get gun when I'm 8 streak. When I get kills with the gun does it go towards my kill streak or does not count and what are rules for adding up streak cuz I swear I got like 20 killstreak and then game decided to give me the 8 streak gun.

So when i kill someone now i see in the bottom left next to my weapons that there is a kill counter. I got like 10 kills and no spec drop so i got a couple questions. Can you kill the same person more than once, is there a points system where like 1 melee kill counts for 0.75 kills, and last does it go away as soon as u die?
