LCP Web Analytics
I am trying to understand long LCP times in the Web Analytics data we receive for our site. We have SVG images which are stored in a GCP bucket with 5kms LCP times. This seems pretty long for a service with a regular latency of ~150ms. The SVGs are small, ~13k, is it perhaps the render time which is in this number? One area confusing me is that the object section show the size to be 439k, I am not sure where this number is coming from. I have a screen shot, though didn't want it to take up much of the main #general-discussions thread space

Hereβs a thread for you π
Thanks π
This file is 14.1k in size. This report's scope is 14 days. So I am guessing this is seen at this speed on a regular basis.
I am trying to determine the more likely cause of this slow LCP, how I may be able to measure it to fix it.
Some of these numbers, e.g. object size, in the report don't make sense, so their meaning would be helpful as well.
I guess I will open a support ticket then.
Yeah I'm not super familiar with those analytics personally, sorry. My initial guess was perhaps it's measuring the compressed size vs raw size, but a 30x size difference would be some pretty impressive compression π
Who's doing those analytics?
CloudFlare
Ah, I see it now, Took me a moment since I don't often look in them
Interesting, I'm seeing it on mine with a slightly bigger image https://share.hoedab.tech/ShareX/2022/02/msedge_VbCKtYBeim.png
Yeah, super curious on what goes in that calcuation
I've done a couple lighthouses etc and the LCP score look very good
Though I did notice that you don't seem to be caching the images?
Oh I'm wrong, I thought it would have cached the svg from google storage as well
It's all part of what we are trying to figure out with those images.
They are served from google buckets which supposedly served from a cdn with a 1 hour cache. GCP buckets will have ~150ms latency, though I would really like to know where that additional 5000ms is coming from.
There are some other images from the report which are served from the app which should be cached by CloudFlare which show high LCP times. So I am hoping to find out what that is about as well. There isn't a lot of information about this report and why I am hoping to get some information from the community or support
Ah I see now π
Just a bit frustrated with CF support when I hear nothing for 30+ hours. I respect, we aren't sure, but at least say something. I was hoping someone from the company was hanging out here and could see what's up with their queue
Totally, If you want to send me over the ticket ID, I can at least ask in the escalations channel
Also, Have you tried running the site on Cloudflare pages?
Can currently see it running on Vercel π
Yes we have. It's a Sveltekit site and not small. Our initial trials didn't go well and we kept it at Vercel for now.
@ogbrettski Mind sending the ticket ID?
Sure, thank you, 2371195
