deviceId ? Description ?
Hello all,
I've got 2 questions regarding assets :
* when you upload assets trhu API (assets/uploadAsset, you have to specify deviceId.
I don't know where I can find this information when I'm looking the picture using Web client or dedicated client?
* On the flip side, I can't find any API endpoint that lets you fill in the "Description" field visible in an image’s info.

Information
In order to be able to effectively help you, we need you to provide clear information to show what the problem is. The exact details needed vary per case, but here is a list of things to consider:
- Your docker-compose.yml and .env files.
- Logs from all the containers and their status (see above).
- All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.
- Any recent changes you've made to Immich or your system.
- Details about your system (both software/OS and hardware).
- Details about your storage (filesystems, type of disks, output of commands like fdisk -l
and df -h
).
- The version of the Immich server, mobile app, and other relevant pieces.
- Any other information that you think might be relevant.
Please paste files and logs with proper code formatting, and especially avoid blurry screenshots.

I believe the update asset end point accept a description
Thanks, but I think I didn't explain myself clearly in my first question.
I wasn’t asking what I could put there — I was just asking where I can find that information when viewing a photo.
From your answer, it sounds like this field is no longer used — where can I see that it’s no longer active or in use? It looks like the command getAllUserAssetsByDeviceId is still using this field ?
Regarding descriptions, I don't see this field in updateAssets: https://immich.app/docs/api/update-assets

We don’t display the Device ID. We are pre stable so we don’t really have a formal list of unused or deprecated fields
You need to use updateASSET not assetS
