Port forwarding and getsocketopt error
Hello, I've been having many problems trying to port-forward my home server recently, all resulting in 'Connection refused: getsocketopt' i've read every relevant post I could find online, and haven't seen a solution that could help.
The server is running on ubuntu 24.04 with cubecoders AMP and webmin installed; my stopgap solution has just been to use tailscale to connect but i'd rather avoid this when others start to play.
Tailscale and playit.gg both work, as well as connecting with the internal ip. The port (the server is on 2566) is open with TCP-UDP, as I've tested it with an online tool. I have also allowed all relevant apps through the firewall on the linux machine, and I've tried to get people to connect with our public ip (I've already checked a few different ways for CGNAT, it's not an issue)
The server is also listening for the correct port, and it's open for tcp/udp - I also checked the ifconfig and everything else I could to make sure it wasn't a firewall issue.
Since portforwarding isn't the issue (at this stage) the only two things I saw online that could be possible is a separate ISP block further down the line or some firewall issue with them, or something wrong with the ip i'm inputting somewhere.
In the portforward settings I've used the 25566 port for external and internal ports, I have the external ip set to * (I tried 0.0.0.0 and it didn't change anything) the internal port set to the internal servers ip addr (as given by amp, which I connect with in game) and as I said earlier the port checker tool online shows the port as open for my public ip, which is the same ip i'm using to try to connect in game (the server is hosted on a separate machine so I assumed I could connect via the public ip myself to test it, but I also got a friend to try join and they got the same connection error)
Does anyone have any solutions or is my only option tailscale/a reverse proxy/cloud hosting/etc, just not port forwarding?
