Fit Doctor?
Just looking for a little guidance. Started actually dressing with intention this past fall/winter, and have gotten to the point where I feel like my fits are at least "okay" as a baseline (in no small part because of this server!). Have just been struggling with elevating them beyond decent or good enough. Especially after participating in the fit battle and seeing all the incredible fits being posted by everyone, it has given me a lot of motivation to get to that level. Not looking for a shortcut or in a rush to get there, but I figured there was probably some valuable advice to be given in terms of direction, inspo, brand recs etc.
Inspo album (including some mfad members): https://imgur.com/a/Zu1dwJr
Recently have been trying to add some more gorp elements (without going full techwear or anything like that), and have been looking at some milsurp as well.
Brands I have been enjoying recently - Earth Studies, North Face Purple Label, Kotn, And Wander, Goldwin, Gramicci

mind sending your own fits too?
Yep just going through them rn!
oh yessir
Fits I have liked are above (and right below I guess haha, only let me add 10)

This reminds me a bit of the Subaru-Core album from the MFA days, but it seems to have been deleted :nooooo:
Noticed that trail runners and wide cargo pants show up a lot in your inspo

Lots of fun dangly nylon cinches and tie offs in here too

ah too bad, subaru-core seems somewhat fitting for sure though haha
Yeah I snagged a pair of keens already, feel like xt6s are probably in my future too at some point. Also had cargo pants on the list for a while, but I haven't found any I've really liked when I tried them on - kind of picky with how the pockets look/whether they have cinches at the ankle (would probably prefer without so I can cuff them if I want).
Also the tie offs and cinches are a good shout, not really something I picked up on! Definitely add some visual interest.
i’m gonna help more later but as far as brands off the top of my head you should check out, craig green, reese cooper, estudio niksen, man-tle, auralee
prices are very mixed here lol
All will fit in this context tho and will be good inspo at the least
Oh also nanamica
The sorta crunchy-comfy-gorp look seems to work really well for you
if you like it, definitely keep exploring that
ur definitely missing a balloon/parachute pant type of silhouette bottom
Ty for those recs, just checked them out quick and they all really seem to fit what I'm going for. Some of that Craig Green runway stuff is so cool! And yeah price isnt really that big of a deal, if it is outside my budget it can still be good inspo. I have been trying to come up with a way to describe the style and crunchy-comfy-gorp is closer than anything Ive thought of so far haha.
Agreed on this, after SHamster pointed out the cargo pants, I looked through the inspo album again and noticed a lot of that silhouette
I think you're off to a good start. In addition to the tips and brands mentioned already I recommend checking out this article and inspo folder from the gorp goat Dev: https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1215373466816217088/1215373466816217088
A few brands not mentioned that could be good that I’m seeing in and around your inspo:
Nike ACG
South 2 West 8
Keen
Patagonia
I think you could add some accessories if you wanted, but its not necessary if you dont. I really like the simplicity of some of your outfits.
I think you have a good sense of what fits well on your body
I especially like the baggier sweaters and straight leg wider pants
Obviously we’re going into summer, but adding a baggier cotton/nylon coat could be really nice with this when it gets cold again
In this realm

Some of your inspo also has some menswear-y stuff going on which is nice. I think EG bedford or loiter could be nice

Or a something tweed
Maybe with elbow patches
Keeping it on the super casual side
You could bring in a loafer or even a mary jane
See @cirque waywt posts for some of that. He kills that

Oh! Thats a great resource, thank you! I'll check that out.
I think accessories are probably a good thing to incorporate into at least a few fits yeah, just trying to figure out what kind of fits the style I'm going for. I'm sure there are some cool cross-body bags and stuff out there that definitely would! Also some more hats/toques, and maybe some minimal rings/necklaces.
And yes - agreed on the coat. Almost pulled the trigger on a few during winter - once it starts getting colder again, something like that is top of my list.
Would be cool to incorporate some of the menswear stuff a bit for sure, like the idea of tweed or herringbone or something like that. Not sure yet how I could integrate it into like the bigger picture but it could be interesting!
Cirque's stuff is sick yeah, love his fits. Ty for all the recs and advice!!
