Desktop 42 failed to boot

I'm probably an idiot. Trying to learn more about updates and did a

ujust update

today. Rebooted when prompted.

Now the system fails to boot and goes to maintenance mode prompt.

If I press control+D at that prompt I get messages along these lines (see photo for all errors):

failed to connect to system scope bus via local transport: no such file or directory

[ 125.919614] ostree-prepare-root[1507]: ostree-prepare-root: Couldn't find specified OSTree root

(going to stop typing it in as I have the photo)

This is my only desktop system, so I'm typing in from my phone.
I can boot to old windows install if needed to build a new USB installer drive.
I don't know where to go from here, as in can I repair this or do I need to fresh install

5800X3D
3080ti

Was installed fresh a couple weeks ago on 41, updated to 42 automatically a day or so ago.

Adding: both 42 ostree entries in grub cause the same problem.

No, I ended up doing a reinstall fresh from the USB. Haven't had problems since but also am avoiding

Believe it's a known issue with current Fedora kernel. Nothing bazzite can do about it. Need to send logs/report it to Fedora.

hi! ran into the same issue, so quick question:

are we all running encrypted disks?

all failing to boot AFTER entering the disk passphrase?

edit: just tested a new install without disk encryption, and it seems to work. will continue testing for a bit, I'll post if i find anything else, but it seems solved

welp, i was just an idiot: wrong installer. (amd isntead of nvidia)

got 2 pcs, 1 AMD gpu, 1 nvidia...yeah, that was a dumb mistake. got it working fine now!

you'll just need to rebase to an nvidia image for it to perform well

it did boot, but wouldn't wake from sleep; didn't debug that deep, but seems the gpu driver hung itself when it lost connection to the display and wouldn't restart by itself.

since that wasn't the only issue, and it was a brand new install with nothing on the system, re-install was the easiest fix ;)

but thanks for the additional info, will keep that in mind!
