Oxfords fit
Hi,
My oxfords came in the mail and i'm trying to figure out if they are too big. They are a bit hard to put on (is that just normal?) but there's also a bit of heel slip. Is the heel slip likely to go away? Also, is there a correct way to tie them to ensure they're as tight as possible?
Thanks for any help!

Regret not ordering the smaller size in addition, thought it'd be wasteful lol
I can only fit my a little in the back
Heel slip often goes away as the sole softens. Does the widest part of your foot line up with the widest part of the shoe?
How do you check that? Will check when i get home
Oh i assume just feeling the shoes where that part of the foot touches
That.
Thanks thanks
Do your toes sit at the front of the shoe, or is there any empty space between the front of your foot and the front of the toe box
There's some empty space
I think they line up? I mean i feel my foot at that point

Where I think the ball of my foot is
Also as a sanity check did I tie these correctly?
The heel

Also why are they hard to put on? Is that just the case with these type of shoes? It's good i had a shoe horn
Leather will take time to soften and break in, hard to put on is not abnormal as long as they aren't actively uncomfrotable
Thanks. In terms of comfort i'm more concerned about the heel slip
Sorry to bother but does it look like they line up in the pic I sent?
I have no idea. You need to feel it.
lift your foot straight up and shake, if the heel stays in you'll probably be fine when the sole breaks in
It stays in, will doublecheck w my other socks. How long would it take to break in?
a couple hours of walking
You just gotta wear em' bud. No one is going to be able to give you specifics on how long it takes to break them in or like a perfect guide on the fit. If they feel alright, wear 'em and before you know it they'll feel like butter
Based on the hard to put on, heel slip, and very open V at the lacing, my guess is half size down and and one, maybe two widths wider
The ball of your foot seems behind the widest part of the shoe
Those look like strands? Most people (at least used to) recommend half size down and a width or two up from brannock on those
And no, for sanity check you did not tie them correctly
Oxfords are supposed to have the facings mostly closed, so you use bar lacing.
