i do not think that's the ideal suit jacket to dress down imo
if you're really trying to make it work, either wear a more casual bottom (jeans and such) or top (t-shirt, tank top, etc), but again, i don't think that's the jacket to dress down - too fitted, too traditional in cut to me

š¤
But I like traditional and fitted cuts
And it fits me almost perfectly
With no alteration
I usually try to shoot for very mid century looks
nothing is stopping you from wearing it with dress pants (or ideally the matching suit pant)
I couldn't find matching pants lol
But I have a ton of khaki chinos
And brown chinos
And gray chinos
imo it's not worth forcing a single item of clothing that doesn't go with your other clothes, even if it fits well
:thinktako:
the jacket itself skews more formal - it's fitted, the buttons are "matching" which suggests it's meant to be part of a suit, etc - i would lean into more traditional (or formal, if you'd rather) things to pair it with
if you usually dress in mid century clothing then i don't see why you can't wear this with other mid-century things to go shop for groceries or whatnot ie https://alittlebitofrest.com/2023/02/19/what-is-an-occasion/

What Is An Occasion?
Is getting boba an Occasion? Yes! Is it dumb to wear a cool fit to do it? No! You can bet your ass Iām going to wear clothes I love to do a thing I enjoy.
I could just put new buttons on it
putting new buttons on would help
i guess the question is why do you want to dress this particular jacket down, versus your other clothes?
I enjoy a challenge and I plan on wearing it to work and wearing it casually
then knock yourself out š maybe check #waywt or #inspiration for other ideas before you start attempting to change buttons around
My whole wardrobe is nice stuff like this
Lol
and also i guess define what exactly casual is to you - not wearing a tie, not wearing a button down, etc?
Like all my shirts are from brooks brothers
Casual is a hard thing for me to pin down since I do enjoy wearing ties and pretty much all I wear are button downs
Even casually wearing a tie
why not just do that then?
š¤
I wear ties casually often
and suits casually often
Based....
my particular inspiration though is one that lends itself to that
I just really like ivy league and preppy or trad styles
there's nothing wrong with that
wear what you like
Midcentury north eastern stuff
if people want to judge you because of your clothing they're dicks
I think sometimes I do need someone to tell me no
I need to have my excesses reigned in sometimes
i don't think that jacket is sufficient for the concept that you want
and in general defining your actions as "wanting a challenge" or as reactive to someone/something is a limiting way to go about things
if you like ties, wear ties. if you like suits, wear suits. you won't be jailed for doing this, i assure you
:3sChiyaThink:
I'm gonna start wearing anime tees and long leather coats
okay
if that's what inspires you, cool
that seems counter to what you've described but: cool
i would personally figure out what exactly "casual" is to you and/or how often you dress like that. check #waywt or #inspiration or https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1325651502806601768 or https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1130936822051119195 and see what you think is cool and reads as casual
and then see if/how the jacket would work in those kinds of fits
feel free to make a thread for it here if you wanted help in figuring out how to bridge the gap but it's going to be easier to decide what you like then see what clothes fit in then the opposite

Fucks or no?
bad pic, no shoes visible
Just black loafers
And a black belt
And a seiko tank mens size
the pic is bad to determine the fit of the jacket but in a vacuum and having to use my imagination here, it is...decent
It's the right length and stuff
No collar gap, sleeves are the right size
Oh you're right that Pic is awful
The lighting and placement is bad
my personal preference leads to DBs being slightly boxier (whereas this in particular looks like it might be pulling a little tight at the button closure). lapel length and maybe also the pitch are a little odd to me imo but again, personal preference and bad pic
I'm just getting a bit chubby
Would not wear chinos with that jacket. Maybe try grey wool (flannel?) trousers or go very opposite and light wash jeans. Also don't think it fits that well tbh.
I ate like crap the past week
the issue is the jacket, not you as a person
if you feel compelled to change, fine, but the issue can be solved by finding a different jacket or getting that let out if possible
:3sMHXThink:
i would also wear different pants, gray flannel or dark green twill maybe
Maybe
I have a pair of light gray pants
might be better than the chinos
only one way to find out though-
Hmmm

:ritsu_think:
better than the khakis
imo the jacket is too small as mentioned before, and imo the pants are also a little too long or tapered. to me this kinsa look works best with no break
Hmmm
U rite about the jacket
It's ever so slightly tight in the middle so I'm gonna see what my tailor thinks about just sliding the buttons over a little
