Minimum Memory -Xms to allocate
Quick question if anyone can answer: my hosting provider (using Pterodactyl) forces me to use -Xms256M and won’t make me use more for the minimum memory. They let use aikar flags and change how much % of the Maximum Memory (12GB) using, but not the minimum.
Is it an issue and am I losing some performance by not setting my minimum memory the same as the maximum, or is it just not that big of a deal?
I’m using Purpur 1.21.5.

The only performance you loose is that the server will need to allocate me memory while it’s running, it’s generally suggest to keep Xms and xmx the same
Or roughly similar
What host do you use? As it seems kind of scummy
It’s an italian hosting provider called “GameHosting”.
Usually they give much freedom and customer support is kinda good, also prices are great (for what I know, maybe I’m just dumb).
I always choose them, but noticed this thing only now.
It doesnt matter really
Solution
Modern Java handles memory really well
i mean yeah, its negligible.
