All games are freezing after 5-40minutes of playing
Hi, as the title says, all games are freezing the whole system after 5-40minutes of playing.
Specs:
9600X
64gigs ram
XFX Swift 9070 OC Edition
Dual monitor system, main screen is a 1440p Ultrawide and second screen is a 4k.
I use Steam and Lutris and with both of those all games are doing this same thing, screen will freeze, I can hear stuff still going on, I try to alt+tab or other methods to try to close the game and then it will freeze entirely(or if I let it be it will just freeze on it's own) and I have to press the power button.
I tried this on the following Linux Versions:
Garuda Linux – Kernel 6.14.2, MESA 25.0.4(KDE/Wayland)
OpenMandriva ROME Linux Kernel 6.14.2, MESA 25.0.4(KDE/Wayland)
Bazzite Linux Kernel 6.13.9, MESA 25.0.3(KDE/Wayland)
All the same result.
Not a hardware issue because I did extensive testing and also played those same games on the same system with Windows 11 Pro and no crashes or issues of any kind.
Anyone have any idea what the problem might be, the logs didn't show anything related to why it just freezes.
Things I already tried:
Rebuilt the whole PC and cleaned every slot and re-seated any PCIe cards.
reset the bios to defaults
installed a new bios
swapped the ram out with another set
tried the above 4 operating systems
added "split_lock_detect=off" to the grub config file on the start up of all the Linux versions
Flipped the GPU to it's second bios
Swapped out all the HDMI and DP cords with newer/faster versions
Im fed up with it now, but I heard something though about a new Fedora firmware that should make all the 9070 cards work correctly, has that already been implemented?...Any ideas on fixing the issue if thats not the case? ..maybe im dumb and missing something obvious? ..also I heard something about using hyprland fixes the issue, but I didn't want to switch to that..I shouldn't have to.
