I'm not sure why I'm getting this error.... I downloaded only from microsoft official things?

So for some reason there's a non trusted instance being used for the license? Which I don't quite get, nor do I understand how to resolve it (as I don't know what the actual issue is...)

the installer then prompted me to the ssms page, from which I then downloaded that

I don't know how to solve this, but the error doesn't seem to have anything to do with a license, but instead with an SSL certificate

at a guess, something somewhere is using a self-signed certificate where the root isn't installed on the machine trying to make a connection at another wild guess, it might be that the client and server aren't in the same domain, and there isn't a trust connection between the two domains they are in... but that's just a wild guess based on 15 year old (not continuous 15 year, 15 year old, as in Windows Server 2010 stuff) Microsoft knowledge

probably not, no like, the error is pretty cut and dry, the certificate the server is using isn't trusted by the client that usually means you need to either reinstall the server certificate, or install the root certificate the server's certificate is signed with on your machine but I left the Microsoft world a long time ago. I mostly just wanted to try to point you in the right direction and away from licensing issues, cause that's not what's going on here

well... I already reinstalled both, didn't seem to do anything that's also why yo usee two servers on the sql server config manager...one closed one open, bc I couldn't find the old one and it didnt wanna take the new one lol, it ended up getting an error then when both were open I suppose its bc they shared a name
