Bluetooth stopped working on Bazzite 42

Worked fine on 41, I imagine it's either due to the Kernel update (From .7 -> .9, may have been a regression?) or more likely, the bluez downgrade (From .79 to .78), but could be any number of other things. ATM it doesn't seem like it can even detect I have a card. (It's an integrated one that comes with Intel's new Lunar Lake chips) Not sure what info is needed or where to start troubleshooting 🙃

bluetooth was working fine for me when on bazzite F41 but still with a 6.13.9 kernel. I bet you just encountered the same thing I encountered, here's the bug I filed with a workaround:

Much appreciated! I had seen your bug report 🙂 Unfortunately I seem affected by something different, my Bluetooth doesn't turn on prior to login, and trying to toggle it in the settings doesn't so anything. 😭

hmm. bummer. possibly try "dmesg -f &; journalctl -f &" prior to trying to enable BT in the GUI and see if it logs a useful hint on the problem?

After one of the last updates i got logged out of steam at each new boot and bluetooth was not available. Disabling and updating Decky Loader fixed this for me. Could your issue be related?

alas, i'm using bazzite in desktop mode (no steam running, no python decky-loader process running) (at least for my issue)

What’s your hardware? This has happened on my PC build, unplugging the PSU from power and holding the PC’s power button while off for a couple seconds then plugging it back in and turning the PC on seems to fix it.

That just gives me errors: bash: syntax error near unexpected token `;' I may have gotten that working by just removing the ;, unless that changes the functionality. It logs things like opening the settings. But when I toggle the Bluetooth nothing appears. I'm on a Lunar Lake laptop - everythin' is intel based. In particular this is a Galaxy Book5 360. That's super interesting, maybe I can try disabling bluetooth in the bios and re-enabling it to see if that clues the OS in lol bummer, my BIOS doesn'ts support this. Is there some way I can force-upgrade the bluez installation to see if the downgrade that came with this release might have caused it?

fwiw my bluetooth problem (where interfaces get disabled on login) was fixed by updating to https://github.com/ublue-os/bazzite/issues/2485#issuecomment-2814188363

Hmm, well 42.20250417 seems to be out fully now, did you update to stable? Unfortunately it seems to have done nothing for me. 😦
