Black screen on boot
I have a Legion 5i laptop that came with Windows 11 Home. I installed a 2nd SSD and put bazzite-nvidia-open-stable-amd64 on about a week ago. I had secure boot enabled and enrolled the key per the instructions at the time of install. Since then I have rebooted successfully without issue many times. Yesterday I was testing out FreeCad and getting poor performance so I booted into WIndows to see if the issue was the same there and installed a couple updates that were pending. Afterwards I tried to boot Bazzite again and it gave me an error that it was blocked by secure boot. I disabled secure boot and tried again and am now just getting a black screen. Windows boots fine and I am able to boot my Ventoy USB that also was enrolled in Secure Boot so I'm not really sure where to go from here.

Fixing the blank screen boot issue in Bazzite
In this video, I will show you how to get into the terminal of Bazzite (note that this also works for almost any other Linux system) by modifying the grub boot entry. We then look at how to unhide grub, how to boot into the desktop mode and lastly how to rollback to a previous version of Bazzite.
Update: Sometimes when you get the blank screen...
But if it isnt the right thing wait for an expert because im new myself
I did see that as well but I can't get into the terminal. Enter+esc, and Ctrl+alt+F2 don't do anything, or any of the other F keys don't do anything. I also don't get the "Bazzite" loading thing like in that video. Just a plain black screen.
Try ctrl + alt + f1 + f7
And then alt f2-f7 and find the terminal
nothing
I have no other ideas then you can either wait or ask someone in #🎮bazzite to check it out if they are not busy but dont spam ping admins/mods abt it
I've also hit issues on my devices. My rog ally is booting to a black screen
Ctrl+alt+f2 and then steamos-session-select plasma gets me to the desktop
but can't get back into game mode
I started to have black screen on my zotac gaming zone in game mode after booting too. First i have white screen flicker for a second after boot. Then Bazzite logo is loading. I hear game mode sound and it is working but i have black screen. I hear that controlls work and touch screen work too. I connected it to monitor and i see game mode normally there but still black screen on console. After disconnecting HDMI cable game mode show up on console and everything work. I also start to see game mode if i turn console into sleep mode and turn it on again. No idea why it boot up into black screen for first time. Also if i have black screen while connected to monitor and go to deskop mode then it shows up on console normally but when i try to go back into game mode there is still black screen. So problem is game mode.
So I ended up just turning secure boot off and reinstalling bazzite. Is there a way to back up the settings/apps I install going forward so I can preserve them if I end up having to reinstall again?
black screen got fixed for you ? I have to put my handheld to sleep and turn on again for screen to appear or connect it to another screen via hdmi and disconnect cable for it to appear too. I found those two methods.
I ended up just turning of secure boot and reinstalling bazzite and it's working so far and I was able to boot back and forth between windows. This is on a laptop but I didn't have a monitor available to try connecting to. but it didn't respond at all to any of the function keys/power button/closing the lid so I don't think it was a sleep issue. I'd have rather repaired it or something but I couldn't get it to do anything myself. Currently I'm looking into how I can back up my install so I can run secure boot again but restore it if that happens. I'd also like to know what cause the problem in the first place, I suspect windows wiped out the secure boot enrollment but it didn't affect ventoy as well so I could be wrong about that.
