vanguard (anti cheat) still messing with audio drivers in 2025.
ok so i took a very very long break from valorant, and recently came back and updated the game, even though i didnt play very much i always had it updated so it was just one update behind, and i decided to get on yesterday (4/10/25) play for a few hours, got off played REPO, then came back to valorant, and thats when my audio started acting up.
its just valorant, i boot valorant and the issue starts, even when i play other games like fortnite or repo theres no issues with anything UNTIL I BOOT VALORANT. BUT i can close valorant and the issue with the audio still persists. it is like, a in an out situation, someone could speak to me and it cuts out for 30 seconds MULTIPLE TIMES, it cuts out my discord audio, and if my playing my music then it cuts that out too, and it does not stop until i reboot my pc, then can go play something else after the reboot and no issue, until again, valorant boots up.
ive uninstalled and reinstalled, updated and checked for updates on literally EVERYTHING. ive even tried moving valorant to different drives to see if that somewhat helped, and nope.
when i left valorant i was using a wired headset, and when i came back i now use wireless, i dont know if its that not communicating well with Vanguard, but how can you expect someone to play a whole game that is meant to have communications in it but have your anti cheat fuck up audio drivers?
this needs to be fixed ASAP.

Could very well be a vanguard issue but I feel like a lot more people would be complaining if there was an issue this major with vanguard so it might just be issues with you specifically. Anyway do you have the basic audio drivers installed or smth else.
also have you talked to support about this or no.
opened a ticket with support, nothing back, and i did clean installs of all drivers from gpu to audio, spent the last two days disabling things like windows sonic in my headset, and so much more, the issue is truly just with valorant and im beyond past upset cause ive done everything i can i think and there is nothing fixing this, ive even gone as far as changing my usb port for my connector thing for my headset, still persists.
i was literally playing yesterday after the patch for three hours and it was perfect, got off for maybe an hour, to play repo, got back on valorant, and the issue immediately started, and it will continue to happen on other games/ desktop sites like youtube after closing valorant if i do not restart my pc, literally every other game is perfect.
@Soupy Soup ^
just to check its not being caused by some dumb issue because of another app can you try a clean boot.
of valorant? or my pc? cause ive done both, still an issue even if i only open valorant :/
press win + r
write msconfig press ok
go to services
click hide all microsoft services
click disable all
turn vgc back on bcz it got disabled
press ok
restart ur pc
and then what?
check val
ok hold on for a moment
its so far working fine but now im running into other problems with some apps that have that pop up that requests me to allow or deny changing something, i click allow and it doesnt stop popping up.
well you disabled all the services so dw about other apps for now
anyway
if it stops working i have no idea what your issue is
if it keeps working
the issue is from some other app
good luck figuring out which it is.
so what now? because some of those need to be on to update other things
:val_PepeShrug: idk if i was in your place i would check one by one which service makes it stop working and thats going to take a lot of time
anyway goodbye
almost forgot if u wanna enable them again literally just go back and click enable all and restart
suddenly with everything re-enabled, im having no issues now, so i really dont know what is going on. i updated my camera software & now no issues. so maybe it was that? dont know. will test later to see if i face any other issues.
hey if it works who cares how it got fixed
still facing the same issues :/ nothing riot support has given me has helped so im really suspecting its a bug that needs to be fixed.
with services off or on?
both
ive done both
its also changed, it use to happen when id open a different game, now its when i open OBS.
still only happening with val too so
I'd suggest downloading ddu and uninstalling your audio drivers (then reinstalling them ofcourse)
would that even work for wireless/ usb heatsets?
depends, one headset I had, had it's own drivers. while the other one used windows ones. either way you lose nothing by trying.
i have the logitech g435
Just try it..
ya did that and issues are still .
vanguard hates you I guess, is the same issue present with other headsets or earphones etc
it HAS to be a damn riot bug, and yes, wired and wireless.
I mean yeah it almost definetly is ðŸ˜
ive been in a support ticket for six days on this now and they just keep saying the same shit over and over again ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Basically what I'm confused about is if the issue is only happening to you, why is it happening on a clean boot and only on valorant and different headsets, like anything that could make it happen only to you is gone
can you try disabling startup apps too
nothing else makes sense tbh
i dont understand either.. the only start up apps i have running on start up is softwares for things like my microphone. & camera, intel, vanguard and nvidia.
im at a point where im just not going to play or make content off this game until a next patch comes out, because its not out of the ordinary for one bug to appear, like the lauching bug in 10.06, to make more bugs appear.
do i keep vgtray on for vangaurd
shouldn't matter but keep it on
ok
Just to be clear do a clean boot together with turning off startup apps
i even re diabled ever service besides micro obviously
micro?
Microsoft
im doing the process of elimination again with the msconfig thing cause i dont think this time around i hear any blips of audio
ngl I did not understand the second half of that sentence
i havent heard any audio problems yet is what im saying
I see
well then you know the issue isn't vanguard
i tested all the services and i onky heard two blips but one was from game lag and i think the other was from my music changing
im testing start up apps now
Vgk sees legitimate device:
"This must be a dma board! Let's block block block"
isn't that why tpm and secure boot are a thing
Those are meant for externals not dma, dma isn't affected by those at all
I see
wait isn't a dma sort of external
like
yeah
Just to be clear I'm stupid and I have no idea what I'm talking about.
Tpm is more like a device which adds extra serials to ban so it's harder to come back as a cheater but there's many ways around it either way
ye but what about secure boot
Dma is hardware cheats, externals, unlike dma, runs on the same computer and it can be dtc much more easily
Pretty much none of these affect dma by any means
oh I thought it did thanks
As I said those are meant for externals and internals
Why are you so interested in cheats any way :help:
I'm interested in just getting knowledge about computers ðŸ˜
then how do they detect dmas
Depends on the quality of the firmware, some are better than others, just like some cheats drivers are safer than others, also some dma firmwares dont fully match the legitimate device that it's supposed to imitate
so it does mean that it's possible to make a cheat that is only detectable manually
It is possible, there's a new dma device selling for 4.5k USD atm which is completely undetected, gamerdoc can look at it as much as he wants but it will take him a while to figure out how to detect this new one, but he will get there eventually, either way I dont support the sellers of this device since it takes less than 500$ to make and they choose to sell it for such a high price for greed reasons, I dont condone cheating either way
ya so, i thought i figured it out, but it is still happening.
do you have a dedicated sound card or something?
no
i dont, but ive tested all the services and everything, and for the past few days nothing has worked, i truly dont think it is a me issue because every other game runs fine
4500 usd for a dma what the fuck
i get everything has issues and nothing is perfect but there is a limit to the amount of information vanguard can get right. so how hard can it be to make a devices input look normal or atleast cheaper than 4500$
this is the exact issue im experiencing, but nothing within my riot support ticket has helped, and as ive stated ive fully ddu wiped my audio drives, reinstalled some drives, updated things and did everything in the ticket and to no avail nothing has fixed it. i do not thing this is a me issue, ive been at this for like 5 to 6 days now..

Oh it's hard trust, and you'd be surprised by the amount of people who actually pay so much for it
valorant and vanguard has to have someting against steam, cause i was streaming and had no issues, at all until once again i boot r.e.p.o , sooo uhh idk. kinda need steam to play my games
@gwace can you open device manager and show this?

@gwace If you use a slotted audio device in your PCIe slot, it may be blocked by Vanguard, as cheaters use something called a DMA device to spoof the PCIe audio device so we are forced to iterate against it
if you do not have a dedicated sound card then it has nothing to do with vanguard
sure give me a second
its not a me issue either though, cause its only with valorant. all my other games are fine.
there u go

@gwace add me see if i can find out the issue
ok
