7z still has issues on Bazzite GNOME with a directory that... can't???? exist?
-# Reddit has zero results for the regex "MO2 does not accept p7zip directory and needs 7z" under 20% similarity. Google has zero results for the regex "MO2 does not work with 7z on Bazzite", 0% similarity, meaning people gave up installing MO2. But for me it's a requirement.
So I'm trying to get Mod Organizer 2 installed and I found this issue, previously discussed and unanswered by moderators on February of 2025 that Mod Organizer 2, needed to mod games using Vortex, does not accept the p7zip directory and requires a 7z directory instead. As a result, p7zip does not even work on Bazzite, however I can extract .7z files no problem.
[Image 2] shows my error: it needs a 7z directory. [Image 1] shows what my PC is trying to do with the p7zip directory. It's been discussed on Reddit with no luck, it's apparently been discussed here with no luck, and its so bad Stack Overflow doesn't know what to do, so I'm apparently the only one noticed that's ever asked this question :/
And yes this is practically the same issue as what was discussed last on the 10th of February, however they have been waiting for an answer for almost 2 months with no answer back from developers or moderators, despite requesting an answer back a few times :<

forked the code and made a release. https://github.com/wolfyreload/modorganizer2-linux-installer/releases/ hope it works for you. The app is a bit fiddly, the first time I tried to install it failed and then the second time it worked

Proof I can extract .7z files is on this image

but MO2 says I can't
Since you are running MO2 in wine, you'd need to install the Windows version of 7z into the same prefix that you installed MO2 into rather than the Linux version then that should solve that error. Not sure what other errors will follow though.
Have you tried the Mod Organizer 2 installer script in Lutris?
I'm running MO2 through their Tar.GX prefix
wait no...... 😠hang on
So what I was trying to do is follow a GitHub page because they told me to install mo2 and I'm finding the page right now

here
I have protontricks, 7z was already installed as p7zip but mo2 cannot see p7zip and needs 7z instead
and if i try to install 7z via terminal it doesnt work
as its "already installed"
I've tried to install 7z through their tar.gx file and its going confused
and the error arises when I try to execute
./install.sh
heres where the "2. Download the latest stable release here" goes to

as for lutris I haven't even really bothered to try to use that as exes fail 110% on my steam deck
You trying to install this right? https://github.com/rockerbacon/modorganizer2-linux-installer

I selected no for clean game prefix

The next screen displays weirdly I had to click on the blank area then click on the purple blank area

Then it only shows All done let's continue
ahhh I see what the problem is, the screen is too small if you increase the height it has all the options

Thank you so much. I'll try to get this running on my steam deck when I'm not busy
It worked :D Thank you :D

and it didn't even fail on my end
