Charges (again...)
TOO MANY PEOPLE GAVE ME DIFFERENT ANSWERS.
1.
a.)In a hollow charge sphere, the charge resides on the surface. (Right?)
b.)As per gauss law, EFI, Electric Flux SHOULD BE ZERO INSIDE IT (Right?)
c.)If it was a hollow wire conductor, Will magnetic Field inside it also be zero (Please justify your answer)
2.
d.)In a solid charged sphere. Does charge reside inside it, on the surface of it or both? (Too many people gave different answers to this).
e.)Will EFI and Electric Flux be Zero inside it based on the above answer?
f.)If it was a solid wire conductor, Will magnetic Field inside it be zero too? or will it be directly proportional to radius of line integral (r) until it reaches radius of the wire conductor (R).
Apologies for the silly questions, but I would like to clear my fundamentals.

- Hollow charged sphere, charge is on the surface.
- Electric field inside is zero.
- if you mean an infinite cylindrical shell conductor with the current flowing along the infinite length , then yes, field inside is zero by Ampere's law.
2.
- If the solid sphere is an insulator, the charge occupies the entire space. If the sphere is made of a conducting material, the charge all migrates to the outer surface, reducing it to the spherical shell case.
- Electric Field exists inside the sphere for the insulator, but for the conductor, all the same rules as the normal spherical shell apply. No field on the inside for that one.
- For a solid conducting wire, current will flow through the bulk of the wire (we define i = j•A) , not the surface, unless specified. So, in general, the magnetic field inside the wire will not be zero.
@putangina hope that helped
