Why are my belt sizes on average 3-5 in longer than the pant waist diameter?

is this normal?? are belts just like that? signed, the guy who wears pants anywhere between 33 - 36 in waist and a 38 or 39 belt

usually you want about 2" larger than your actual waist size otherwise cant tuck the belt after, the tip will just stick out

pants are vanity sized, belts typically measure to the middle hole
